With today's update, 1/26/21, mods no longer work.
Yup, every single one no longer works, due to being incompatible with this version of the game. All worked this morning, went to continue playing this afternoon and NOPE!

I've tried reverting to 1.0 beta, no luck. I've tried 1.1.6 beta (the oldest available) no luck. I've tried 1.1.14 beta, no luck.

Thus, it's no longer possible to play a modded game? This morning I was playing v1.0 WITH MODS! What gives, guys?

Could you elaborate what you mean specifically by "mods no longer work"?

Is it during the loading before the title screen, when loading the save, at some other place?

Well my space exploration save works just fine in 1.1.19 so I am pretty sure that the problem is not with the Factorio build.

In fact, if an old 1.0 build stopped working then the problem must either be with the Factorio mod servers (which presumably has been fixed by now given that I was just able to update my mods without any problems), your internet connection, or some kind of file corruption on your computer.

When I load the game, it removes all mod content. When I check the mod screen, the mods are checked, but listed in red, each claiming they're "incompatible with current version of the game"

This occurred just after updating to 1.1

Have you upgraded to 1.1 yet? I'm fair certain that's what's causing the problem, and it only updated a few minutes ago for me. If rollout isn't universal, or you just haven't restarted the game from steam, maybe you didn't get the forced update?

My save has 52 mods installed and loaded fine.
All your mods must be updated as well to the new version. Probably most popular mods have been updated by the mod author. You must download the new updated version using the in-game mod portal. If the mod author has not updated their mods to the new version, then you won't be able to use that mod in the newest factorio version unless you update the mod yourself.

Mod authors have to specify which version of the game works with the mod, so it's possible that they are incompatible if you update the game to the latest version before the modders tweak the supported version. There is not much the Factorio developers can do about this without chaining modders to their desks and whipping them to make them work faster.

However, this should have been fixed by reverting to an older Factorio build so it's a bit of a mystery why that did not fix your problems.

Just FYI: I got updated to vanilla 1.1.19, broke my K2 1,0.7 game that I had been playing. Saw there was a K2 update to 1.0.23 (new as of 12 days ago) instailled and I and it works again. There was a translation report when i lauched my old K2 1.0.7 safe file. It showed a few removals and changes, but I assume those are K2 changes, not things broken from update to the core game to 1.1.19. (can anyone confirm?)

Check your mods for updates folks!

I'm getting tired of every few months another forced version update ruins my games. I have hours, days, and weeks invested in a saved game, a game I paid for , saved on a computer I paid for, ruined by no choice of my own. It's getting old.....I paid for this....I want to play the game I paid for, not some jack ass idea of an improved version of the game I bought.

Wake up.

This IS the original vision of the game the devs had in mind from the start that you paid for.
It is only just now starting to get released as they finish it.

This was made known months ago when they tried to beat Cyberpunk 2077 to the 1.0 finish line.
Not their fault they had no idea just how badly Cyberpunk would perform.

You can also chose to go back to 1.0, nothing is forcing you to use 1.1

Would you like some cheese with that Wine?

You paid for the game, the mods did not come with the game.

If you pay the modders aswell, you have the right to whine, if not, fix the ♥♥♥♥ yourself or shut up.

Also actually pay, not donate. Even if you donate you STILL don't have the right to whine.

How do you go back to 1.0 with steam?

I had the same problem, I don't want 1.1, all my mods aren't compatible. 1.1 isn't even listed as a stable release so it shouldn't auto update
Fel Jan 26, 2021 @ 6:21pm
In the steam library, right click on the game, onen the properties, go to the beta tab and pick 1.0 in the drop down list.
It will no longer auto-update and remain on that version unless it gets removed (which shouldn't happen any time soon given that even very old versions are available like that).

Whenever I boot up the game, I always check the mods tab to see if there's an update. If there is then I click the button to update. Then click continue to reboot the game. When the game reboots you will be asked if you want to sync the mods or load the game as it is (something to that effect.) Click on load game so any changes you made remain in place. If you tell the game to sync the mods, your changes will not be made, so if you updated a mod, you will still have the previous version. Just be sure to choose load game and not sync. I hope this helps.
