Grass under my Brick?

I've started to expand a bit in my current factory and when I finished putting brick all around the new area I found that there's grass bushes on it, which I thing is weird.
why are they there?
any way to remove them and prevent them from spawning again when I expand again?

You can't with bricks unfortunately. I think when you use refined concrete the grass goes... if not there are mods that get rid of it.

simple way is to uncheck 'Show decoratives' (settings>graphics) but can make the wold look a little bland.

or, there are mods that remove grass etc from concrete/bricks.

i've used 'CleanTiles' mod before. not sure if it's compatible with current versions.

i kinda like the growing though look. it should be an opt in setting IMO though.

Try nuking the ground before paving over it.
That big explosion scars the land and removes all grass in a small area.

Grenades work (in a very limited fashion, the effect range is tiny) as well.

When you place a ground tile, it has a percent chance to clean up certain ground decorative plants. So if you are patient (and don't want to faff with mods), you can remove and re-apply the concrete until it randomly cleans up the grass. It's good for small areas, but mind-bendingly dull if you want it EVERYWHERE. I gave up on caring about the tiny grass a while back, so I haven't bothered with the mod.

I pave HUGE areas with reinforced concrete. Usually I automate the process using bots and a train that delivers more concrete when needed.

Grass still grows up through it.

It is pretty easy to fix this. Either in a mod or changing the source files directly.
The following value will eliminate the grass showing through the tiles.

I didn't look at the CleanTiles mod but I am sure this is what that mod does to do this.

another good way to get rid of a lot of grass is to detonate a lot of nukes and burn a lot of coal. hope this helps.
