As long as you don't explore too much or send artillery everywhere (since it generates all of the chunks in its manual firing range, which is quite a bit larger than the auto firing range) you will be fine.
The map gets infinitely generated. The closest thing to reaching a map edge is driving in the same direction until you run out of available RAM and the game probably crashes.
If I remember correct its 2kk*2kk tiles
type
/c game.player.teleport({999990, 999990})
twice in the chat and you will see the end of the map.
I have more than 500 hours in my current factory, and about 3000 hours overall. Map size will NEVER be an issue unless you make it one.
Your start position is 0, 0.
1.000.000 in each direction.
But try
/c game.player.teleport({999990, 999990})
You can see the end of the map.
