It's by design.
No. It's not that you didn't notice it before. It is indeed new in the 1.1 version of the game.
The devs felt a more clear visual signal that tells you whether you're in map mode or not, was necessary. They added those 'CRT lines' to it as an improvement.
Oh, a 'CRT lines' improvement, double-LOL! At least I am happy now that I know it's not my gfx card.
I had been thinking about asking what people think of another improvement: after 5-odd years, why did they decide to move the character-toolbar-thingie from the bottom right, where I was totally comfortable with it, to the bottom-left, where my brain/eyes aren't interested in noticing it?
Iirc space for the right-hand details sidebar was indeed one of the cited reasons for moving the character dash to the left, together with the vehicle dash.
Indeed, and interesting! I know I am very strongly right-sided, I use my right hand for everything (e.g. one-handed typing) and have always been totally right-footed kicking a ball in footie, I cannot even direct it if I try my left foot, and hence have never been called up to play for England....
In Factorio I cannot use WASD keys (I don't have any other game which requires these), and instead use the arrow keys over on the right-hand side of the keyboard.
Other than being incompetent, does this say anything about me?
Some people are right handed some people are left handed some people have varying degrees of ambidextery. This goes for the eyes, ears, and feet as well. A right eyed person that does the parallax experiment sees the foreground object shift less when the right eye is open. A right eared person following a sound will tend to veer to the right slightly when following a sound without using vision at the same time. A right footed person starts off walking on their right foot unless they concentrate on moving the left foot first voluntarily. The opposite arm swings with the opposite foot to maintain balance to see what I mean try walking and stepping forward with the right foot while consciously swing the right arm. If you don't fall over your balance will be precarious and you will have to take your time stepping.
Logical/organized people are left brained, artistic/emotional people are right brained. People who are "ambidexterously brained" (like Davinci or Franklin) are both logical thinkers and artistic. They also tend to insanity or odd behavior and usually require very little sleep.
The nerves in the brain crisscross so most left brained people are right handed.
There are exceptions to all of this though. you can be right handed and left footed. A right handed person that also happens to be left eyed is very bad at firing a gun or shooting a bow and arrows.
A left brained person that is right handed writes "normally." A left brained person that is left handed writes with their hand curled back towards their body. A right brained, right handed person writes with their right hand curled back toward their body whereas a right brained left handed person writes "normally." Or perhaps smoothly would be a better choice of word.
For most people left brained and all other things right is the norm but discrepancies do exist. If you have ever looked at a person that wears glasses and they seem to be looking through the middle of one lens but through the top or bottom of the other they have one ear higher than the other but the eye that is higher is the one on the opposite side.
It is possible to train the hand and eye on the same side of the brain but it takes concentration, mental focus, and practice. Its also usually learned before the age of 2.
Thanks, very interesting! :)
I don't think I ever noticed before, but I will always start out on the right foot, wouldn't dream of the left. Right for everything for me!
I have installed it yesterday after finishing my play session (now that I finished getting all the achievements I can get this run...) and gonna test if that's the case when I play next.
Guess I was searching the wrong terms last night but can confirm this mod does the job!
