Performance on MacBook Air M1 8gb RAM & 7 Core GPU
Hey, so I downloaded the Demo and played around a bit.. the game runs at a stable 60FPS on my MacBook without any heating.

My question is for those who play on the laptop mentioned in the title:
How will does it perform for you guys in the late game stage when the factory gets fairly large and mods are loaded in as well? Does it cause over-heating?

Also does multiplayer work?

Thank you.

I don't have the laptop, but I would say 8Gb RAM is on the lower side of RAM requirements, especially if you play with mods. I would be more comfortable with 16Gb.

I also dont know a laptop. But:
8gb of RAM is not that much, which could be a limiting factor in the very lategame stage.

7core GPU? Do you mean CPU? And even then... 7?
But well. To my knowledge the game is very single-threaded, which means that the game will gradually get slower.
Mods can actually help with the FPS/UPS (updates per second) problem, as mods can implement stuff that is using less factories for the same output.
Overheating is rarely an issue I think... you will more likely get worse performance in the extreme high end stage.

But I think you will be fine.

Im probably in the late side of mid game, not really any mods and Im using 7.7gb of ram. So yea for the long haul I'd say you'd be cutting it pretty tight.

the final level of the demo (the one with the train tracks) is very large - it should be possible to create an extremely large factory there to do some testing - and there is no time limit - i don't believe the demo has options, but i expect console commands work if you want to speed up the process

and just to clarify, in case you haven't played the final level of the demo yet - it is a reduced scope version of the freeplay mode which can be replayed as many times as you like and has no time limit - it has a limited size predefined map, as opposed to the procedurally generated, practically infinitely in size and infinitely customisable maps of the full game (but the demo map is still relatively huge) - and it has a reduced tech tree, limiting you to the first 2 science packs, and with some more advanced techs removed (e.g. everything to do with oil processing which is not included in the demo) - but it includes the full set of train technologies so you can build complex railway networks, as well as the second tier of belt speeds and electric power - including solar power - but since you have no oil processing you can't create accumulators and so you will need fossil fuel to power your factory at night

but my point is that the map is huge, and it should be possible to fill it with a very big factory that should give you some idea of performance under heavy load

i should also mention that at low settings i have comfortably played this game on a potato of a laptop by modern standards (old i3, 4GB RAM, old integrated graphics)

anyway - that last level of the demo should give you enough room to do a stress test - and for an indication of size - i knew what i was doing when i played the level recently (it is included in the full game as the tutorial campaign) - and it still took me an hour to drive around and uncover the whole map
