Macbook Air
My partner wants to get factorio but has a macbook air (the newest one). Will she be able to run it okay on that? And will we be able to play multiplayer together alright?

As long as you are not hosting, factorio runs pretty well even on much older and weaker computers.

The bottleneck usually ends up being the CPU but macbook air tend to have a decent one so you would be able to run fairly big factories without any real issue.

You could always use your steam account on her computer and see how well it handles the game, especially if you transfer a save with your largest factory (since you seem to have owned it for a few years already according to your profile).
I have an m1 macbook air, the one with 8ram/8core. Admittedly, I haven't played the game much (I am easily overwhelmed), but from what little I've played, the game hasn't dropped below 60/60 fps/ups with maxed out graphics. I downloaded a couple of save files of megabases and that dropped my fps/ups down to about 30/30, which seemed playable to me, but then again I actually have no idea what ups even is, so maybe its unplayable. I am not worried about this, I doubt I will ever get to the point where I'll be making megabases, but it's nice to know its an option if I ever change my mind.

UPS is Updates Per Second. When it gets too low, the game becomes quite unplayable.

"Too Low" is for you to decide.
