Is there any way to enable achievements after using codes?

Starting a new map and not using commands that disable achievements, but I doubt that it's what you wanted to hear.

You could load a save from before you used commands that disable achievements if you have one as well.

It gives you a warning that it would when you try to enter them in the console but fine...

Easiest way is to "simply" start over....or load a save from before you used the commands.

More complex is by changing the offset-bit in a decent hex-editor (as this has been done by the devs for a good reason I'm NOT going to say how, which is in addition to avoid people getting back to me complaining they bricked their instal whilst trying to do so)

You won't believe how many times it has happened to me that I tell people they could change this or that bit to 0 to get the result they want and they get back to you cussing, ranting and raving that YOU are personally responsible for bricking an install or corrupting a 1000000+hr save.... Just because people say you can , doesn't mean they should....

Though I don't think she meant to come across agressively; KoS IS right though....you used console commands and a gamerule is that when you do you get locked out of achievements. I answered the question because (although I think it's unlikely) you claimed you locked yourself out on accident.

Now you proudly claim you found a mod that let's you cheat (your own words) and doesn't disable achievements....and although I'll give you the same respect as before; it does start to sound you want to cheat your way to getting the achievs. If that's not your intention then I couldn't care less...

But I'll tell you this...I am screenshotting this right here and right now and if I see you lording your achievements over a player who doesn't have them I'll respond with that screenshot because KoS IS right in that regard...any achievements you get whilst using that mod are NOT earnt and thusly have no solid ground to claim the bragging rights as such.


P.s. You're (partly) wrong when it comes to saying it's none of her business. KoS is a Factorio Steam moderator....steam doesn't allow you to unlock achievements through cheating...KoS is beholden to the rules that steam sets and thusly it kind of IS her business if you get achievements through cheats in a game she moderates that disables achievements if you cheat.

Whether they patrol the steam for achiev-cheaters or not...it IS in the ToS you signed when installed steam and being a moderator means you are (partly) responsible for enforcing those rules (though it usually comes up in a social setting and not a mechanical one).

However I think KoS responded strongly because of the same reason why I put that in there...I absolutely loathe people who cheat their way to achievements and then use that as bragging rights, telling others to "git gud son" whilst they took the easy way themselves (I absolutely hate hypocrits and yes; that includes myself in some instances)

On your point that Steam is busy removing fake games...I invite you to search for a YT SidAlpha made recently about $200 games that are nothing more than a way for their devs to scam/launder money. If Steam REALLY cared about removing fake games they should start there xD

Sure, people cheat for things. This guy doesn't seem to be bragging, so it's OK in my books.

Achievements are meant to be a standard by which players can earn a badge because they EARNED the right to it. When you cheat, you are insulting all the players who have spent the time to learn the game and work within it's boundaries.

No one is telling you how to play the game, but when you are CHEATING to get a badge that is not available to you otherwise, and is a public award, you deserve the shame that goes along with that. It is NOT OK to cheat Achievements, that's why Steam frowns upon those kinds of things. That's why Olympians who cheat are stripped of their medals and their ill-gotten glory and fame.

Cheating is dishonest, and is an outright lie to others.

There is no honor or reward in cheating Achievements.

Grow up, play the game properly and DESERVE those badges of honor, or leave them unachieved.

I usually agree with most of what KoS says.. But calling something cheating is, IMHO, not justified. I mean, if it was a shared game with other players in the game, I would be fine enforcing things. But for single player mode, who cares?

Also, there is a mod that enables it.. If they didn't want that, they would ban that mod, right?

Not that I really care. Like I said before.. Steam Achievements are not something I care about one way or the other.
