Can someone help me with setting up Permissions

New to the game and had a "griefer", so to say, destroy most of my work. I was hoping there was a way I could set permissions up to stop this. Such as only having the ability to walk around and chat until I change it.

A lot of people have said to use passwords, however I do want to meet more of the community and don't want to lock people out, especially new players.

So if someone could possibly lend some help, Ill be happy.

type /permissions on the console. That will open the permissions GUI so you can set what players can and cannot do.

Thank you, however I meant what are the perms for only chat and walking as I cant seem to find that!

/persmissions

(EDIT: Add new group, then edit the rights to that group. This UI was clearly made by someone already costumed to managing righths on servers. I can see how it can be a little confusing.)

Thank you I appreciate that, However I am looking for 2 of the permissions which is to walk/move and to chat.

I do not want new players joining the server and having the ability to do anything before I get to know them, sounds harsh but I do not want to be griefed again. Though I would like them to have the ability to walk around if they wish and to chat, until I give them access to the rest of the perms.

I have tried what was in the video, however that ill keep for verified players. I did managed to get only the chat to work, but I still cannot find the permission to move around.

Wouldn't disabling mining and using of the deconstuction planner be enough?

And yes, it does sound harsh. I recommend getting to know people either in the multiplayer forum here and setting up a game together, or go to one of the manifold Factorio discords and creating a play group.

I people aren't even able to move around, I doubt they'll want to stick around... especially if they can't even communicate with you through chat.

OP wants the reverse- To allow them to chat, and walk around, but not allow anything else.

To the OP, Allow the permission to Chat (post to console as described above), and disable everything else. There is not, to my knowledge anyway, any permission that prevents the player from walking around- Even if you turn every permission to off, they'll still be able to move.

Edit: after Modran's below post i went and checked through the permissions; 'Write to Console' is chatting, 'Start Walking' is being able to walk around. Unlike Modran i didn't have any issue walking around when Start Walking is enabled; But cannot move when it's disabled.

Walking and chatting are the two things he want's to allow them.

I found "Start walking", but that alone doesn't seem to be enough. I can't move when I turn it off, but i still can't move when that's the only thing enabled.

I had the same issue as well, which is why I find this confusing.
