how to deal with concrete
So, I've moved my main production on this map for like the 5th time overall and trying to decide the best way to deal with concrete. I don't have water or iron ore in the "main" factory and I don't make bricks outside of it. Currently all my ore heads to the smelter. I do have a water train though so water anywhere is easy.

Should I make concrete in its own standalone outpost and just train the finished product back the factory?

Basically: yes. Stone is everywhere, just pick a spot to make extra bricks near water and ship in by hand the iron ore since one ore -> 10 concrete, Dump the output into like 10 chests. It's not like you need concrete for mass production of anything else, anything you want to use it for is stuf you don't automate.

To get the iron ore, just have a fast inserter grab from your iron ore line into a wooden box, a few minutes later it'll be full and you can take it to the concrete maker.

i automate silo's and reactor stuff though so there is an input need for it at the factory :/

Even automated, you just don't need that much conrete. If you've got kovarex enrichment you need less than one centrifuge per reactor, so even megafactories only need a few thousand? And beacons are probably best for silos rather than making too many new ones.

Just ship the iron ore to the concrete area by hand, the concrete back by hand, and dump chest-> belt that feeds into your silo/nuclear assemblers. So only the concrete part is not automated. If you really don't like that, just have bots do the work with the same idea.

I'm just saying, making the infrastucture to fully automate concrete shipping takes more time than walking there and back likeonce or twice per thousand hours.

As I use a personal train for long-distance routes, & as bare dirt absorbs some pollution, I have little use for concrete other than for crafting a silo / centrifuge / reactor. A few thin concrete paths inside the factory blocks is all I need, & some hazard is used at pedestrian crossings of train tracks.

So I usually simply dedicate one of the starting area stone patches that is near water for a concrete assembly line, & just deliver some iron ore occasionally via a small train / by hand to top it up [similar to Greep^]. It takes a long time for the ore field to deplete.

'Course, some factorians do love to fully concrete the entire factory: In which case I would setup a dedicated production area near some water for concrete, & stations for the associated stone / iron ore delivery trains. Though, you can deliver water easily via train too, so you could put it anywhere you like.

you guys simply are not building big enough. Building an outpost atm to deal with it.

Old 8-core reactor, new tileable expandable reactor with 8 cores [stress testing it, planned for 32 cores], + 12 centrifuges, + 1 silo, + some paths = 24k concrete lifetime total. A pittance, required only a single assembler & buffer chest.
For comparison: Iron plates are used at 15k per minute ...

Not big enough ... Oh, the factory is never big enough, lols. XD
But my potato is starting to struggle, so I must set some ingame limits to avoid a meltdown IRL.

65 silos initially planned. currently have 24 reactors will need many more. Paved train corridors. Factory floor paved. Already burned through 100k concrete before i moved the factory the first time :D

65 silos?! Why so many? You can fit a butt-load of speed beacons around each silo [with plenty of room for dozens of inserters too], so the hard limit is the 40secs[?] downtime for it to open up & launch the rocket.
1 silo [or maybe 2] is probably enough for a 1rpm factory. Just how big are you planning to build ... ;P

I don't really see the need to pave train tracks, nor the factory floor, so I'm curious about what your reasons are for doing it. Is it for the aesthetics?

what better way of disposing of all the stone i have from tidying up the map?

I want a massive fireworks show worth of rockets. Nonstop launches.
