If you are talking about moving in a cardinal direction, there a mod that lets you snap to 15' increments (IIRC... or maybe 12.5'?) There's another mod called Pavement Drive Assist that keeps your car on roads make of concrete/stone.
I haven't looked into mods yet. 1,600+ hours lol. That one sounds perfect though as yeah I like driving in a straight line when on concrete. Thanks.
Sorry, couldn't resist, but knowing this problem since the first GTA or maybe even earlier with games like Micro Machines on Amiga 500, i have not even tried to 'master' car driving in Factorio.
Tank is fine and running with a full equipped armor is just to convenient.
And trains, ah, you don't need to remember where you parked - just add a new station and call it to you.
IMO, the "trick" is knowing when to slow down and when it's okay to go fast. As long as you make solid "roads" around your Factory you should be relatively fine. "Tapping" instead of "pressing" helps as well when orientating the Car.
Overall though I much prefer the Tank or just a Train. The Car is neat but pretty much after "Early Game" it just sucks for ... everything really lol.
easy solution: build a second car that you keep empty and use that as your 'straight driving car' assuming that you need the car to go straight to place very long belt/wall/track at faster speeds
one good use for this is to funnel biters to walk along the lines so they get crushed!
Sure, it takes more effort to set up than just slapping a bunch of exos in a power suit, but it's a lot more fun (for me, anyway).
PERFECT!!! :D Thank you!
Cardinal, he asserts the direction of the vehicle. In case you think it's not good, go to settings -> mod settings, and chage the cardinal settings on your taste.
Build 7 lengh roads, Use the personal Robo port so, It will fix immediately the probable crashs, and always walk with power poles and repair kits to so the robots can repair the damages and change the poles in case you destroy them.
Be happy.
