How to insert 1 item per time in a building?

I see some people in speed runs, they take a stack of coal for example and pass over many buildings, each time it puts 1 coal in each building. How they do that? I know how to put half stack and whole stack but not 1 item per time.

it is not "drop item" I just tryed, if you use drop item (z) in furnace the coal go to the ground beside the furnace

you can watch part of video man... he takes 50 coal per example and pass over 10 builds, he splits this coal over 10 buildings in 1 second, that is what I am talking about, I would like to know how to do that

as Killcreek2 said, hold coal in your hand, hold Z (or whatever your 'drop item' bind is) and move your mouse over the furnaces.

I just noticed something... my game is in version 0.16.51 and the video shows 0.17, is that possible just in new version? I think 0.17 is beta because steam didn't update it alone

Ahh yes. Dropping into buildings & trains might be new addition, it used to only drop on the ground as you said.

You can opt-in to 0.17 from your game library (see pinned thread).

I just checked on 0.16.51 and it just drops the item on the ground around the machine instead with the ctrl+"drop item", so it is definitely something added to 0.17 (and it's great since it gives you a way to (mostly) evenly distribute items between machines without having to download the even distribution mod by holding the button and moving your mouse over the buildings a few times quickly.
