Using colour with lights.
Hi everyone.

I'm trying to put a coloured light on when my stock of oil (or whatever) is below a certain value.
I'm using a decider combinator to send a colour signal to the light, after comparing oil to limit value.
I don't understand how it works... if I output 1, I get the color, but I don't know how I must configure the light (colour signal = 1 ?)... and if I copy input value to output, the light is white.

by the way, is it normal that grey and black coulours simply give white light ? If yes, they are not useful for lights.

Is there a simpler way to do all this ?

Thanks for your help!

Hello, Mykepatch,

Here is a simple set up for coloured Lights.

About the gray and Black color I can't say anything, haven't used them so far.

Have a nice Day

OK . That's approximately what I understood from my tests. But it's not really intuitive.

Thanks a lot for your reply PantheraPanda ! Have a good game :steamhappy:

I have another question.
My lamp is far from oil tanks but my tanks are connected to global electricity circuit. I thought signal passed through global circuit, but it doesn't work.
Actually, my tanks are full, and the amount is over the comparison limit, but the combinator keeps 1 as output and the light remains on.
Am I missing something ?
The combinator is also connected to global circuit, of course.

Should I build a special circuit from tanks to combinator ?

EDIT : when I pass over electric item connected to tanks, i shows signal and its value, but the signal doesn't show with other items in the same circuit. Is it normal if the signal travel through the global circuit?

You need to run a wire along the power poles for them to run the circuit signals. Either red or green whatever colour you use for it already.

OK thanks a lot! :abs_happy:

The closest to "global network" you can get is your logistics network decided by your roboports. You can use barrels and passive provider chests to supply this network with info about your liquid supply.

Edit: Grey and white provide a dimmer light, only seeen as a smaller light radius. It would be great if they changed this to the actual black and grey colors, because I see very limited use of the smaller light radius. It could be useful as a moody light among your uranium processing.

@Hedning
That's what I thought after a while, but I abandoned when I realized I had to convert all my fluid in barrels and back...
Thanks anyway for your help!
