0.17 Quickbar: How to remove/replace items on the new quickbar?
Apologies for the simple question:

For the life of me I can't figure out how to REMOVE an item from the new 0.17 quickbar. I can add items to it with no problem, but I can't figure out how to remove or replace an existing item there. I've been messing around with it for like 10 minutes and can't figure it out.

Quick help? Thanks.

Is there any quicker way of dealing with the new quickbar? (I can't seem to find any options for it).

Adding items feels very awkward. In 0.16 this was a simple matter of shift-clicking things down to it but now you actually need to bring the pointer down to do anything with it as far as I can tell.

As for removing items... Yeah, I really prefer having new items (i.e. things I'm about to use) going to the quick-bar instead of it holding a reference to something I was building in the past but am no longer carrying.

I suppose this is just something to get used to over time (i.e. just build most things straight out of the inventory and only use the quick-bar for staples like belts and inserters?)

i have no idea why left and right click both select the item on quick bar. I was hoping right click would remove it. Couldn't even drag new item ontop of old one

Its a hotbar now, not a toolbelt, so everything on it is a reference/link to the item type in your inventory. It feels funky right now because, 16 required a middle click to lock tge inventory slot. Now it is a drop in to set and a middle click to remove.

Is there a way to change it back to the old one, or is there a mod for that? I rarely used the "lock a specific item function" in the old toolbar and now it forces you to use it that way.

It can be handy to have belts, undergrounds and splitters easily accessed by 1,2&3 keys, but beyond that, yeah, I'd rather have the slots hold whatever I pick up so I don't need to open up the inventory for building every single damn thing. With 0.17 I'm barely using the toolbar (apart from the above), which I can't imagine was the intention of the change...

The new toolbar is the bomb. I hated looking through my inventory for some item, crafting it and then realizing it was just in my toolbelt. New items going into the toolbelt was also confusing some times, since they took the first open slot.

To address your wishes, I propose 3 simple solutions:
1) Make Shift-Clicking an item add a reference to the first open slot in the hotbar
2) Make Right-Click delete a reference in the toolbar
3) Give us a new item filter called "newest item" to place on a few slots in the hotbar and update them with the 'n' newest items, where 'n = number_of_those_slots_in_the_hotbar'

Middle mouse buttom does not work. There is any other way to remove an item from quickbar?

Middle mouse button definitely works, so there's probably something misconfigured with your mouse. You're probably well served to fix that. But you can go into the control settings and assign a new button to Inventory/Toggle Filter.

my mouse have no middle button ( but it has a ball ! )
Any other options?

You are right. I had changed it to mouse button 4 time ago.... Thanks a lot.

Unless you are on a Mac apparently. And my "wonderful bar" is now full of crap from my attempting to remove things. *sigh*
