Stuck on 40FPS "SOLVED"
Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

CPU
Intel Core i7 9700k 3.60GHz

RAM
Corsair Vengeance Ipx 32gb 3200

Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Z390 AORUS PRO

Graphics
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER (EVGA)

Storage
1T SSD
500GB Western Digita
1T Western Digital
256GB PCIe SSD M.2

In game full screen 40fps
Ingame windowed 60fps

The problem is the game starts 60fps ingame fine. It randomly lowers to 40 fps for reasons unknown. And stays at 40fps until I restart the game. Window mode works great at 60fps and stays. Any help would be great thanks.

You aren't at endgame or anything are you? If you have a megabase up and running that can and will destroy your frames.

Post a screenshot with the debug screen (F5) enabled.
And what graphic options are you using?
Your System should definetely be fast enough for stable 60 fps/ups until quite far into the megabase phase

Try to disable V-sync in graphics options. If that doesn't help or introduces tearing, disable "Use flip presentation model" in graphics settings (you need to restart the game for this one to take).

If that doesn't work either, try to see if you can disable G-sync for Factorio in nVidia control panel.

UPDATE. This suggestion has seemed to work so far with no problems."disable V-sync""disable use flip presentation model restart the game" I would like to thank all of you for your help. only played for about 30 mins with no problems 60fps full screen. Will play Monday for about 4 or 5 hours to know for sure. If you do not hear back from me its definitely fixed. :steamhappy:
