Calculating coal consumption
I guess that very dumb question but I can't figure it out. I have a steam powered power plant in following ratio:
2 water pumps
40 boilers
80 steam engines.

It is powered by coal on single red fast belt now which is fully compressed(1600/min). I am going to run second setup like this but I am afraid that one belt is not enough to keep all these boilers running. How can I calculate usage of that belt?

Each boiler consumes 3.6MW in chemical energy, so 40 boilers consume 144MW or 18 coal/sec. It follows that one red belt can only supply 60 boilers

Thank you for the answer. So it looks like it's time to upgrade coal belts.

Or upgrade fuel.

in my testing, red belt is enough for 3 offshore pumps> H pipe > 2 rows of 23 boilers, 46 steam engines @ 100% load.

not enough for 5 offshore pumps> 2 rows of 32 boilers, 64 steam engines @ 100% load.

You're doing something wrong.

First of all you're using 23 boilers with one pump, which is ill ratio. One pump will produce enough water for exactly 20 boilers.
Second, picture is horrible quality but from my perspective I can tell you're using yellow belts and not red ones.

He's using Red belts. He's also using 3 pumps.

Then he is doing something wrong, I run 60 boiler setup on 1 red coal belt perfectly fine.
EDIT: I will paste screenshots as soon as I get home.

Then it's water supply. Pipe throughput may be a little hard to calculate at times. Try throwing a third pipe from pumps to the end of your boiler stack.

ok, i misunderstood. iron oxide(III) was asking about powering 80 boilers, not 40.
