Underground belts as ups optimisation
Ive come across lots of persons suggestings to use underground belts to improve ups but can't find anyone suggestiong it in the last year or so, and ive also read that belts have been improved to reduce performances issues. Is it still true that underground belts help at improving ups or this has been fixed?

belts got optimized in 0.16
i don't think underground belts will help much, if at all.
fluids, and agro-ed enemies moving are the big offenders now.

if you are going mega, solar is where it's at for now.
fluids are getting optimized in 0.17

Each belt(1 long) used to be 1 object and each set of undergrounds (in and out,6 long) used to be 1 object. Since then long sections of belt regardless of underground transitions are handled as a few objects. Your reference is likely referring to an older version.

Thanks for the answers, replacing all belts to undergrounds would have been a very tedious task and im glad i won't have to do it.

Undergrounds no longer boost UPS, but can still boost FPS if you are standing in an area full of belts & zoomed out. (This seems to be due to the "overdraw" that was mentioned by the devs in a recent FFF.)
