Ultimate lane balancer
Well maybe not really, but this https://imgur.com/a/Fp0fkZi single belt lane balancer always pulls equally and outputs equally. Unlike this one. https://imgur.com/a/S11Latd
If you have any cheaper or smaller designs, please do share

I like the second one, it's the perfect way to balance the two lanes in a single belt. I use this kind of design all the time. I'm not sure what you're trying to do with the first one.

The point of side loading the lanes first is to input balance, ie to draw equally from both lanes on the input side.

The point is to always have them equal, as when the second design gets filled up it just reverses the input and output lanes because of how belt prioratisations work

here are a few more.

about as cheap/compact as you can get i'd say. as long as you don't mind the right angle.

Here's a Blueprint Book of all the belt balancers you might ever need:

i use this one too, its got everything you need up to 8x8, but no taps unfortunately. where are the books of belt taps?

Ryan, do any of those balance the left and right sides of the belts?

AKA, it's important to be clear if a balancer is a belt balancer or a lane balancer -- they're different, and one does not imply the other. Though, IMHO, a well-designed balancer should be doing both :D

indeed piccolo255. 'lanes' being left and right of a single belt.

cheers

If you see a topic about balancers you can assume they are not lane balanced unless they specifically talk about lane balancing.

Almost no balancers are lane balancers because on any sort of larger scale you have trains which don't have lanes and thus automatically balance, and your output is balanced by lane switching half way down the line or having the same row on the right and left side. Adding lane balancing to your balancer adds a lot of complexity which is usually completely unnessesary.

I think the biggest lane balanced balancer I've ever built is a 2 belt one.

I still think it's better to always be explicit about which balancer you're talking about, unless it's clear from context. Consistent terminology is helpful for both beginners as well as veterans :)

I like to balance my main bus. Unneccesary, yes, but it looks much better lane balanced.

I admit to building only 1-belt lane balancers -- I lane-balance every belt before feeding them into a belt balancer :)
