Is it good for quick sessions?
I know some games are best suited for long sit downs and sessions (Civ series for example, and also RPGs with long travel distances). Is Factorio one of those games? Or would you feel somewhat satisfied even if you only had say 40 minutes to an hour per session?

Forget it xD Factorio has a very adictive mentality. I promise you that you have to force yourself to stop once you dived right into it xD

^ This. Set up an alarm on your phone. Set an alarm on your computer. Set an alarm on anything that has an alarm!!

08:00: "An hour to kill before work. I'll play some Factorio, make that new red circuit factory I need! I'll get it done in 30 minutes then off to work!"

17:34: "And that's that done, now off to..... HOLY SHSAFUD??!?! I AM SO FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

....

Never....... never happened to me in real..... in real life............ never.

You can play for short periods of time. There is nothing preventing you from saving and exiting the game at any time.

Since you brought up Civ, I'd say this is very much in the same vein. You can tell yourself you'll only play for an hour, but good luck sticking to it. No, this is one you really want to be able to sit down and sink your teeth into.

In theory, sure. In practice, you'll probably want to have a few hours to dedicate at a time, because you can easily find yourself fixing one problem, creating/finding two new ones, and then fixing THOSE, and the next thing you know it's past midnight and you need to go to work in an hour.

but then you can't leave the belt messed, you first have to fix what's not working, then you can leave ...

I play short sessions all the time. Even shorter than 40 min. You can do a lot in 40 min.

I disagree. In civ everything work on timers and overlap so that there is always something new that is almost finished. In factorio you can easily finish a thing and end there before starting the next.

If you mentality allows you to be like this, sure.... BUT, most people agree that it's hard to leave once you are in it. Noticed it last night while JUST planning my XXL nuclear power plant. Later I went to bed and kept thinking about it.

Don't let other peoples addictions guide you. Of course you can play for short periods of time, just don't get addicted. ;o)

You can play this game in short sessions, certainly. The problem is that this game is fairly addictive, as others have mentioned. Most will get sucked into a project and either play until it's done or quit before it's finished and have it haunt them until they can return to the game. It's an ideal game to play if you have nothing to do, but most people will find it hard to quit when they need to follow a schedule.

In short, play it during holidays or weekends.

I will only play for a few hours...

Finally looks away from the screen, "OH GOOD GOD WHAT YEAR IS IT?!" XD
