Instead of downloading a pack, just download the mods individually. That way you get the most up-to-date versions. There's no guarantee that the person who made the mod pack you downloaded is keeping it up to date. It could be VERY out of date for all you know.
First, if you're using Angel's Smelting, AND Angel's Smelting Patch, It's going to be really hard to get the plates you need. The Smelting Patch makes the hard way to get plates the ONLY way to get plates. If you disable it, you can use the simple way (just putting ore into furnaces) until you feel like doing the complicated way (which is more efficient).
Angel's Bio Processing (the way you are seeing to get wood from seeds) used to simply be a way to get algae which enabled a few alternative ways to get some things. Now it enables a truly massive tech tree involving plants, trees, farming, agriculture, algae, and so on. Still, it is entirely optional, and I find it more complicated. If you disable it you won't really miss anything right now.
Getting wood: The basic way to get wood is from Bob's Greenhouses. Feed them water and seedlings, and they grow wood for you. You can make seedlings in an assembler out of wood (so you'll need to chop some trees to start the system going). The greenhouses used to be more complicated, they have since been simplified.
I'm looking at the Filtration Unit recipe right now, and it doesn't require brass plates. The recipe might have been changed for balance reasons, since as you noticed, brass is difficult to come by early on. Your mod pack probably has an older version of the recipe. The one I have requires steel, basic electronic boards, and clay. Clay is also not easy to come by though... heheheh.
At the early stage of the game, the main thing you'll be wanting a filtration unit for is to process slag and crushed stone into mineral sludge, which can be crystalized into ore. I usually just stockpile the slag in a warehouse for later since, as you have observed, the technology required to actually process it is hard to make.
For a "lite" version of bob/angel, try turning off Bio Processing, Smelting, and Petrochem.
1) for wood, I have the simplest mod apparently with the greenhouse (seed + water): I keep
2) for minerals: I just checked I do not have the mod "Angel's Smelting Patch" so much better ^^
I like to have the choice for ore processing: either make a simple assembly with a low yield or make a complex assembly with better performance
3) filtration unit: as said by disabling the mod "bob's metals, chemicals and intermediate" it has become easier to craft
indeed the clay is quite special to craft but it was easy compared to the "brass plate"
I will try to continue my game like that if I galley too much I will start with the mods you advised me;)
A lot of good idea in these mods:
- ore processing
- having special labs for serch modules
- the "gas" part
- the small machine for electronic craft
- "cargo plane": I can not wait to see its exact operation ^^
- I'm not far enough in my part but I hope there will be another way to make electricity because just, photovoltaic, boiler and nuclear is not very varied compared to the rest of the content
The vanilla version looks like a tutorial now ^^
thanks again! (and sorry for my bad english I'm french....)
Steam and Solar power are still the most common sources of power, even in Angel/Bob, but you'll find that they have lots of upgrades. You can make more powerful versions of boilers, steam engines, solar panels, and accumulators. So, for example, you can do solar power and it won't take up as much room.
Eventually you will want a supply of all the different types of plates. Many of the advanced versions of buildings require them, and the advanced versions of buildings are faster and more efficient.
Indeed I saw the different size of solar panels and use wood in the boiler I was hoping for a brand new electric source: I became demanding: p
anyway this is my first part so I will try to test each way to do the mineral treatment I will try to optimize all that in the 2nd game
I also just discovered that the "bob's metals, chemicals and intermediate" mod has also removed some ore deposits from the map (I can not remember the name)
I do not know enough craft to see what has really changed but it had to simplify a lot of things
It sounds like you are using some odd mods. For me A filtration unit require
Steel, Bricks and basic electronic boards.
But I think the best way for you to get the correct mods is:
1: uninstall your current mod pack:
2: Open the mods menu, and press "Install new mods". Then search for
bobingabout
For each mod, check that the author is bobingabout and if it is, then install it.
Then do a search for arch666angel, and then for each mod that gives you, verify that the author is arch666angel and if it is, then install it. (Except for things marked [Alpha] or [Beta] or which include the word trigger.
Then in the future(Say next week) you can get the newest updated version of all the mods just by pressing the "Check for updates" button.
These mods are updated quite often.
Also: Now that your are starting out. Once you have installed all the mods, and want to start a new game, I will advise that your in the mod settings enable
"Transport belt overhaul"
And then disable:
Cheep steel.
Also: You may want to start with just the mods by bobingabout. Going from vanilla to a full angel+bob is quite difficult.
Ps: You do not want the arch666angel mod "Infinite ore" it is buggy now, so almost all your ore outside your starting area will be infinite.
pps: You may want to set starting area to large or very lange in your first game. Especially if you want to start in the dessert.
you're right going from vanilla to a full angel + bob is quite difficult.
finally I followed the advice of Name Lips
"For a" lite "version of bob / angel, try turning off Bio Processing, Smelting, and Petrochem."
I will add these mod for the following parts
thank you for your advice / advice I almost give up these mods (especially because of the part "Petrochem")
