odd porblem with steam invite system
So my cousin got me into this game right and so he invited me to his game. This was done by doing the multiplayer settings, sending game invite over steam, normal stuff and it works. So he wanted to play on a world i made solo. I followed all the same steps but when i tried to ivnite him it says he could not connect to host server. Tried it with a fresh world and still same problem. He then hosted the game and invited me and it worked. I have both a better computer and better internet than my cousin so it makes little sense as to why this problem is. Anyopne have any sort of clue as to what could be wrong?
Again i can join any game he hosts but he cannot join any game i host so if i work on a world while he is offline, we cannot play on that progress

Uh, I know that when I invite my friend to my server, I need to do port forwarding, as my router blocks all traffic on unknown ports unless I forward them to my personal computer. Perhaps your friend is in the DMZ of their router, which means they don't need to forward?

I know this is old, but I bet many still have this question. I had this same problem with a different game and discovered it is a Steam issue:

- Steam has 3 privacy settings. You can set your profile to Private, Friends Only, or Public.

- As crazy as it sounds, your profile setting affects whether you can play with a friend.

- Set your profile to Friends Only or Public and your friend can join you. He needs to do the same for you to join his games.

- As a simple test, if you can see the friend's profile when you click on it, you can join his games.

Nitpick: Steam networking support was only added in 0.17, ~10 months after this thread was made, so I don't think it's likely that this was the same problem :)

A solution for a completely different problem that has similar symptoms is, of course, still helpful -- so kudos for that :)
