If someone calls it out, or mocks you, just ignore them, or report to server moderators.
However if you want to know what to do in multiplayer servers, you can do two things:
1- Read bunch of guides and discussions and watch some Youtube/ Twitch about Factorio.
2- Join the server you want and just observe what everyone else doing. It's fine if you stay still for hours or go around looking at what people do. (Without adjusting it ofc.) You can press M key and zoom in everywhere at map without actually moving. You will see what people do and say.
(That's what I did first.)
It's like chess; First you get familiar with pieces and the board, then you start making your moves and become creative.
Good luck. :)
In most servers if they are doing a project you will be expected to help doing something. If you are not very good, they might just ask you to do basic stuff (like setting up the bus or building smelters)... until you get better at doing different things.
Same with most games.
I'm Brazilian and my English is very bad, but this can be funny!
my native language is Portuguese.
I'll be free to play at 8 at night. I have 130 hours maybe more, I still not launched an rocket. I have experience but I always reset the game so I never finished
