Nested blueprint books
I don't see it discussed, so I have to wonder - am I the only one that wishes you could nest blueprint books?

I have several ways that I'd like to nest them. One master book containing early game stuff, one containing prints optimized for Bob's mods, one containing prints that I don't use any more, but have interesting layouts that I refer to from time to time, etc.

No. Not even you want to nest blueprint books - all you want is a container for multiple books which already exists - you can have multiple blueprint books in the game blueprints and drag them to your inventory when necessary (e.g. hypothetical Bob's mod blueprints which you aren't using at the moment don't need to exist as an item in your inventory because you are not going to be using them).

'twas.

Devs' latest proposal (~3 months ago) for blueprint library redesign is here, with pictures, and a link to official forum discussion: https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-282

Steam thread, where I got into a heated discussion with Zorz over "is it better to give player more power in SP, or to limit players for more convenient MP", is here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/427520/discussions/10/1841314700718682867/

Nope -- I'm right there with you, as are the devs :)

Anyway, I haven't seen anything newer from the devs, so I assume it's still in the pipeline. If so, it should eventually arrive in 0.17, as part of further GUI updates (the GUI stuff is only partway done right now).

(BTW, a Steam searching tip: when searching Steam Discussions, by default it will search only current subforum -- e.g., General Discussions. Try searching for "nested blueprint", and check the top of the screen. There should be several green boxes with text, each describing one active search filter. Click the small "x" in the "General Discussions" to cancel that filter, and then it will show you results for all subforums. Now it should list the discussion I linked above, which is in Ideas & Suggestions subforum, as one of the first results on the second page of results.)

Excellent - thanks, Piccolo! I did a google search and only found reddit stuff on the first couple pages. Most everything was "Does it exist???" "No."

If you don't want to nest your books, no one would force you to, but don't tell me that I don't want it just because you don't want it. I'm not going to say that the blueprint system is "bad", because the devs have done a remarkable job on the game and simply *having* a blueprint system is better than many other games. But there are some obvious opportunities for improvement.

I wouldn't mind having a different view. Rather than a large icon of a book with smaller icons embedded in it and a small text name, I'd like to have the option to have the books displayed in more of a detailed list view, sorted vertically:

Early belts (with Bob's mods)
Early belts (vanilla)
Katherine of Sky's nuclear layouts
[ etc...]

I'd like nested books, but first I'd like to see more improvements to how blueprints and books work. The current implementation is far too clunky.
