Thanks!

You can override mod folder path by setting launch options in Factorio properties in Steam Library. It's not the most convenient solution, but probably easier than having to fiddle with symlinks.
--mod-directory "D:\Factorio_mods"

I know, playing that version now.

This game looks better with mods, like Industrial Revolution.

Yeah just not a fan of their outdated mod system. This is the ONLY game I own that still uses the outdated Windows XP way of adding mods. Having to add them to the appdata portion sucks, I keep my SSD as clean as possible as it is only 250gb(I know, I need a bigger one, but money is tight and mine is still working) I have a 2 TB and a 1 TB sata. Every other game mods goes into the game or the documents, which can be offset to another drive.

Thankfully, mods are not that big for Factorio. but its my biggest-and only- dislike about Factorio.

Nonetheless Ill check that mod out:cozybethesda:

0.17 is close to being declared stable. I always play the latest experimental build as I don't have an issue starting over or retooling my factory for recipe changes.

perhaps using symlinks would provide a workable solution to the mod folder issue.

Forgive my ignorance, what is symlinks? Ill have to google that but any info you could share I'd appreciate.

Yeah, I am a huge fan of early game start in most games, so starting new is never an issue

short answer is to create a link to anywhere else on the system; making a link from the factorio mod folder to your D: drive or whatever.

That is awesome to know! Thanks! And while I am not nearly as efficient as many, the game is a blast to lose myself for hours trying to setup the next bus :D

Good to know that. Is it safe to say that works on Linux as well?

I've been reading a little here and there about this "update" to Factorio and at this point, I'm just waiting for it to release on stable.

It'll be like a whole new game, based on what I've read and I can't wait until the polishing is done to get lost on an alien planet and try to build a factory to survive all over again.

Indeed. But you have to use valid Linux path, obviously.
