What is the ratio of water pumps to boilers?
title. I just had a blackout because apparently 30 water pumps isn't enough to run 70 boilers?

Is there some max fluid per second in pipes I don't know about? Because this just screwed me.
引用自 Alaskan Glitch:
The ratio is one water pump will supply a maximum of 20 boilers with water. Each boiler is capable of producing enough 165°C steam for two steam generators. Hence, each water pump can support a maximum of 40 steam generators.

Yes, there is also a maximum throughput for water that depends on the distance the water has to travel. This throughput maximum is as follows:

Number of pipes Maximum flow between two pumps (units/second) 1 3000 2 2200 3 1860 5 1560 8 1380 12 1260 16 1200 23 1140 41 1080 166 1020 209 960 293 720 359 600 459 480 759 300

Unless you intend to run very long water lines from your water pump to your boilers, this should not normally be a problem. As a general rule of thumb, you want to keep your water lines as short as possible to maximize throughput.

I guess it's time to build a steam powered popcorn factory for this thread, we clearly need one.

1 offshore pump, 10/20 boilers, 20/40 steam engines. try not to make the pipe too long. That's all there is too it yeah?

Ah right... I'll remember that for the next time I have question regarding the SQL course I'm taking right now.... (I'm not even kidding... if I ask the one who gives me my SQL course a question than the answer YOU got I get too 100% of the times...and this is a PROFESSIONAL, BUSINESS-ORIENTED, SQL-course)

or do you think that might be construed as overly agressive in nature towards a comment that, sure, doesn't net you a direct answer to your question but ALSO might've have inspired you to do some practical testing to figure out the answer WITHOUT having to ask an external source... and maybe after you discover that "yes; pipes have a max flowrate....kinda like how belts have a max throughput displayed in items/s" you could've searched for more information about this or ask people as to HOW you can mitigate this problem (as you've already discoevered that there is, indeed, a max amount of pipes you can link up to a offshore pump and subsequently also have a max amount of boilers you can hookup to a single offshore pump)

To you.... the answer you got was a jackass response....

To me... I would've tested first and then ask how to SOLVE this issue

To others the info about this subject is so widespread that a single google search might have netted you more results than could possibly fit in a single reply because of all the variables involved (because what happens to flow if I hookup a tank to that offshore pump first? What happens if I use underground pipes? What if I sequentially put pumps instead of pipes to "push" flowrate)

It's all about perspective....

EDIT: I just saw this was a necro...in which case I want to sincerely express my respect to the one who did the necro as they, at the very least, searched for the info BEFORE posting it as a new question.

To make an addition to what was said... please keep in mind that Factorio "flow" tries to divide the total amount of POSSIBLE flow between ALL pipes connected... so if you put 2 offshorepumps in parralel and hook them up to parralele pipes you do NOT increase the amount of flow available... in effect... you eventually reach a max flowrate no matter how many pumps or pipes you hook up serially or in parralel and, in fact, I would suggest new players to AVOID building serial pipes OR parralel pipe networks as it can lead to some rather surprising, but undesired, results...
You guys all need to get a life and not necro and respond to threads FOUR years old.
I'm not interested in reading a thing you've written.

get a life and unsubscribe

Yet, here you are. Not unsubscribed.
Oh my bad for not revisiting every single thread I involve myself in after 30 days and unsubscribing.
Clearly my fault.
Get a damn life. Both of you. ffs.
Still subscribed?

It's interesting to see the subtle change in flow rate through pipes. I wonder when they made that change. Maybe when they changed the liquid pump?
