have a some [edit] stright tracks in your inventory. place one [edit] stright track..
done that.. good..
have tracks selected.
with them selected hover over the track you placed and click the green arrow in the direction you want to go... move mouse until you get the shape you want...
also did i mention. DONT PANIC.

There's the chapter on building tracks.
Not the only way. I have a 90' curve in my blueprint book which I find invaluable for quickly making turns. The rail planner is useful in many ways, but sometimes I find that a blueprint is far faster.
Now, that's just cheating. You had to use the rail planner to make the rail to make that blueprint in the first place... :S
Not cheating, it's the smart way to do it! Indeed, you need to use rail planner to make the initial curve, but after that... soooo much easier with a blueprint! XD
