Production Speed
I am new to Factorio. I am currently playing the "hope"-campain.
During my gameplay i came across something i do not understand.

The electric mining drill has a mining speed of 0.5.
The stone furnace has a crafting speed of 1.0.

I would now assume that one mining drill can support two stone furnaces, but this is not the case. The second furnace gets only 1 stone every 6/7 stones coming over the transport belt.

Do i interpret the values wrong?

Thanks in advance for helpfull hints :)

Math is everything...there are more than just this 2 values. The time to craft the recipe and you need 2 stone for one process. 2x0,5=1. But i'm not 100% sure.
Thank you, that sounds plausible. A shame i did not come across this thought.

Considering this the 1 stone passing throught could be just "bad timing" because of transportation time. In this case the "pickup-window" of the inserter is slightly missed and could be altered by increasing/reducing the length of the transport belt.
The issue is the product you are making: 1 copper/iron ore makes 1 plate. *2* stone make 1 stone brick.

Thus:
Iron/Copper Ore: 1 electric mining drill can feed 2 stone furnaces, OR 1 steel furnace.
Stone: 1 electic electric mining drill can feed 1 stone furnace, OR 1/2 steel furnace.
And I am no longer sure if it is the case in vanilla Factorio (I may be confused by some of the mods) but there may also be the question of "mineral hardness". I certainly noticed in one of my games that stone takes longer to mine than iron or copper.

Either way, OP, you also need to take into account the production times of recipes. IIRC, iron and copper plate have a smelting time of 1.75, so each plate takes (1.75 / .5) = 3.5 seconds in a stone furnace. Check the smelting time of stone bricks and then multiply by 2 (or divide by .5) to find out how long each brick will take. You will then need to supply the furnace with 2 stone every "x" seconds to maintain constant production.
You've got it backwards. Higher crafting speeds mean faster processing; you divide the raw crafting time by the crafting speed to get the time needed to craft within something.

On top of this, miners also deal with mining hardness and mining power, and I"m not sure if those are linear multipliers or...what. The only time it really comes up is with modded factorio.

IIRC, one miner winds up being roughly enough to support two furnaces...if it's mining iron or copper. Stone works differently because it takes multiple stone
Mining stone is slightly faster (0.65 items per second with electric mining drill) than mining copper, iron or coal (all 0.525 items per second with electric mining drill), but as people have said, you need two stone to smelt a stone brick.

Since stone furnaces have a crafting speed of 1, the recipe time is just 3.5 seconds (or 0.2857... items per second). Double that for requiring two stone you'd need 0.5714... stone per second.

So, roughly speaking, one stone furnace smelting stone will use 88% of the output from one electric miner. That's why your second smelter isn't working properly, it's only getting 12% of the output.

Basically it works out at like 7 miners to 8 stone furnaces. If you want to have them all running (very nearly) 100%.
If you then move onto steel/electric furnaces, it'd become 7:4 as they are exactly twice as fast.
I think i understood it. I will see on my next session ;).
Thank you all.
