How do we get infinite resource ?
I watch a youtube game, and this guy consume like 300k iron and copper per minute, thats 4 million of raw material excluding coal / stone / uranium etc per hour. I started a very rich map, and the largest patch of resource i have seen so far is like 15 million of iron, thats pretty far from where the game starts. I am wondering how he set up those mines. I think his base can consume faster than he set up new route or new mines.

There are mods to make the ore patches infinite. However, I suspect you were watching someone with a mega factory with dozens (or perhaps hundreds) of trains running around gathering ore.

In the 0.15 version they added a minning productivity science, whiel everytime you research the "yield" per mined ore increses.

On my current map (vanilla, railworld, very low frequency, very high size and richness), I am currently using 50+ million Iron and Coal patches, and a 92 million Copper patch. Within radar distance, I can see Iron and Copper patches at over 150 million sizes.

So, while not infinite, you can get huge ammounts of resources just using the game settings.

even the productivity is at 50%, its still alot.

I think you are mistaken minute with hour, assume each mine product 2 output per second, you still need like 10k mines.

with mods only ? 150million is huge, at least 10x bigger than the largest ive seen.

The thing nobody has said so far is that the further away from the base the ore patches are, the more resources (per tile) there will be. That's why some people just have a huge train line endgame that goes super far out, and then spreads out over there.

Exactly. These huge patches are pretty far out. My base is hugely spread out.

or u can get a tank with max fuel, destroy your base, pick a direction, travel with tank until no fuel left and have a fresh start there.

That would only be plausible if the biters have not evolved or you had biters set on minimum settings.

If the biters have evoled to behemoths and bases are set to normal levels, they will rip through the tank unless you are also kitted out with destroyers and personal laser defence. The basesd will be very thick when you go out that far.

Yeah, I would recommend turning off biters if you want to venture out to the 200+ million yield ore patches. Even in god mode with unlimited destroyers and nukes it's a slog to get through them.

Aside: trains running on rocket fuel can easily handle these distances without refueling stops.. I'm curious to know if anyone has a demonstration map made that quantifies the obscene range that even super-heavy trains have these days (my own long line wasn't even close to being long enough).

edit: and now I'm off on a creative mode test tangent. brb with results. :P

I have ventured out in one direction on my map, this is after 100 hrs and the biters are evolved as f*ck! It's fun!

I'm curious as well. I have searched things such as "maximum distance by train" without good results.
