How big is a "big factory"?
I got 29K iron and copper per minute in single player. I gave up in that factory after getting all infinite research. It sucked, a main bus turned into spagetti.

I think lots of people measure their megabases by how many rockets per minute they can launch.

I only launch rockets when I need the space science.

And science is by far the biggest drain on and endgame factory...ergo, most people measure their factory by either (space) science per second or rockets per minute.

I've simply been getting bottlenecks in other science via my iron production. I could suppliment my main bus using logistics robots

As much as I hate the idea of the pursuit of the megabase, its pretty much the point where you need more than 4-8 full blue belts of iron (or refills along the way). The main bus breaks down and trains are absolutely vital.

If that is worth pursuing? I am not really sure, most of the playerbase are not megabase builders. My only megabases are the product of playing bob + angels where its pretty impossible to do everything in one location.

I measure my bases in rockets per minute as well. My most productive base could almost do a rocket every minute.

After 10 or 15 rockets it would need some time to catch back up. I never tracked down the issue since 0.15 came out.

I have yet to have a good RPM base in 0.15. My current project may do it but I haven't tried.

Some people also focus on green circuits as everything is hinged on them. I've managed 25k per minute at most.

Go for a bot based factory. The cost and complexity of belts based factories scale like ~x² or ~x³.

PS: Most ppl dont build over 5k-10k plates per minute.

Kang of Canada, the real definition of how big is a factory is not classified, but!

For me a big base is a base like yours is able to Produce a huge amount of stuff to manage all ur wished u want to produce. With a huge Storage of everything, all sorts of Oil, all sorts of Res, all sorts of Plates.

In fact a huge base is ready to accomplish any new Update like the Nuclear update very fast because u have everything just ready to produce with :)

I thought i did well in Factorio ;) till the point they changed the needings of science flasks ;) I just really saw how bad my factory was :D the reorganisation was a mess

greetings :)

Another point to think about is modules. Do you have thousands of each stored up? I can easliy go through 500 modules when setting up a new smelting plant, and lots of smelting is required to hit that magical rocker per minute.

Whoa really? How'd you come to that, playing Online?

I never thought of myself as a "megabase" person but even my "tiny" factories pump out ~3k plates and my "small" ones pump 5-10k easy lol.
