RE: Circuit Networks
I bet this one's been asked somewhere but I can't find it.

I have recently figured out how to use red/green wires in a circuit network. How do I attach these wires to things like an Assembly Table? Whenever I try this it opens the GUI.

You mean a blue or yellow assembly machine? Hold the red wire in your hand and click the building. Then click a power pole while the wire is still attached to the cursor.

You can't.
You can?

Clicking on the Table WITH a wire in hand STILL opens the Table GUI.

What exactly do you want to do anyway?
What do you need whatever "assembly table" is for?

What do you mean by "table"?

If you are talking about assemblers -- machines that craft stuff -- you can't attach a wire to those. Instead, attach it to the inserter putting materials in, a power pole, etc.

Assembly... machine. Damn it, this is not Minecraft! We don't do everything on tables here!

I think I get it...

I'm using Yuoki's mods, and I have a hydraulic system to generate power with - but if I supply too much water to the turbine, it locks up and stops producing. I was able to attach circuit wires to the pump and the water tank, and force it to stop adding water when the tank was full enough.

The problem I am running into involves the more power-hungry crafting apparatus in the mod. I wanted to be able to deny them power if the pressure fluid dropped too low, so that it would give the system time to recover - but I am unable to attach the wires to those machines (they are apparently, Assembling Machines but which craft other things than the normal ones do)

Cutting power is complicated and requires you to actualy manage the copper wire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (with the item copper wire, you can manually add and remove power lines) until everything you want to switch off is connected to the power grid with a power switch which you can then wire up to turn off if a condition is met.

You can attach the wires to power poles powering the assemblers -- use a power switch to isolate them from the network.

Ahhh...

I suppose I will have to remember this for next time... Most of my base is powered using (modded) substations (covering 24x24 blocks), so it would be maddeningly difficult to--

...No, maybe it wouldn't. I think I finally have a decent reason to use those steel transmission poles.

EDIT: Now I am having trouble wiring the poles... I SHIFT-click them to remove the copper wires after placing, and then re-wire them so that a lone wood pole is standing between two steel poles, seperating the two parts of the circuit. Placing a signal line on the wood pole, then the switch, does not seem to cut the power beyond it, even when the switch is off.

EDIT: Never mind... You have to connect the switch with copper wires on each side. Just like a regular switch... but it just decides to pick randomly which side to attach from/to and you waste wires trying to get it right...

It shouldn't be random, wiring a cable in from the left should attach on the left, then wiring to the right should attach it to the right.

It's not random, it connects to the side of the switch you click on. Both of these are functional and do the same btw: http://puu.sh/tvNKl/4d66167f22.jpg

As you already mentioned Shift-clicking on a power pole or switch removes all the wires connected to it. You can also remove individual wires by drawing the path the cable takes again, e.g. trying to connect two power poles that are already connected will remove that connection. You can use this to remove pole-switch connections that are placed wrong without affecting any other connections.
