Inserting robots into Roboports
Is it possible to have robots directly inserted into a Roboport? It looks like they are not being inserted into my logistic network even though there is space

Yep, its possible. Maybe the roboport where you insert the robots is full. robots will not automaticly fly to other roboports just to fill the network.

Once built, a robot sits in a chest, deactivated until it is inserted into a roboport. Either manually, or using belts and inserters.

You can automate it with robots once you have some in the air. Just make your robot factory drop completed robots into a passive provider chest. Then put a requester chest (requesting logistic and construction bots) next to a roboport with an inserter to take robots from the chest and drop them into the roboport. Then every time a robot is finished, a logistic bot will pick it up and carry it to be inserted into the network.

Stop paying attention for a while and you can end up with thousands of them flying around.

I always manually release my robots into the wild, usually a few hundred at a time. I don't want to return to my main base to find out I have thousands of robots in the network.

Eventually I do end up with thousands, but it is a conscience choice and I add them as the system needs them.

you can wire an inserter to the roboport, right click the roboport and click 'read robot statistics'.
then just set your enable inserter condition for availible, or total robots etc.

I tried this on my last game. I ended up with nearly 2000 of each, with slightly more construction robots, though to be fair, I did tend to do large sections of clearing trees or building long walls.

yeah, i don't suggest using 'enable if availbile robots <. it WILL get out of hand. i normally use if total <
