Best server host for Factorio?
Does anyone recommend a factorio hosting website? I've looked at a few but don't really know the difference..

While we are on server topic... Does anyone know how much RAM is needed to host megabase maps?

Depends on the mods you are using. We just recently did an Angel's/Bob's map in MP, and we were using 10gb of RAM... we launched a rocket, but at that point the map was unplayable for most people.

For a vanilla run I belive were running at under 4 GB, even on an MMO map (50+ players).

Thank you for posting options for servers hosts. I assume this is the only way my friends and I can play on the same map without relying on the player with the save file to be online?

The problem is that it never seems beefy enough. There is always something that can be changed... And away goes my money...

So I hosted a big base on
- gamed
- zap-hosting
- nitrado

gamed is ok till a certain point where 15 trains are running (each with 6 wagons) a 8 belt mainhub (each for copper, iron, green circuits, steel). it starts to become laggy.

zap-hosting and nitrado is (even with the big packages) unplayable. catching up ... catching up ... stuck.

I got a 200Mbit cable internet.

Anyone have a good (and tested) server host?
What are your experiences with ping perfect and low.ms? Which is better (even slightly).

I gave Ping Perfect a try. I'd say they're about the same as the experiences already mentioned. They worked with me to move us from their normal box to a high mhz, low core box to see if it would make any difference. It did, some, but not enough to keep us playing for long after.

Fingers crossed one of these day a Factorio Friday post says they've figured out how to multithread multiplayer.

I'm still using low.ms. Had a couple of issues last year (all resolved very quickly) but all very smooth this year, we've had some very large maps too... Would highly recommend them!

They do charge extra for "Unlimited RAM" but all the standard options have been fine for us, I think they use very high mhz processors.
