Counting an accumulated total requires setting the belt to "pulse mode", and connecting it to a combinator which copies its output to its input (e.g. an arithmetic combinator calculating X+0 or X*1), and connecting the combinator's output to its input. Inputs are automatically summed, so at each pulse, the combinator's output will be the sum of its previous output and the value of the pulse.
Note that you can't do both of these for a single belt piece, as hold mode and pulse mode are mutually exclusive.
Yeas, its offtopic.
Topic:
i made a counter that counts "values per second" i.e. to check how fast a tank fills - or in your example the throughput.
it has a variable interval - but i would need to look it up again - so just tell me if u still need it, so i can update it to 0.15.9
Thats alright. I made my own. Took a few hours though

will come back on the weekend with my old setup.
i used it once to see how fast a oil-tank is filling up, another time when i tried to check how much items pass the belt.
It works - is just a bit more complicated

just link ur belt to the powerpole with red wire and the comb on bottom right gives u the amount of items (default copper plates).
Set time interval on upper right comb
