Back to in vanilla coal though, it's a bit like how stone was for a while (before you could paste it on the floor), it made walls and it was about all you could get from it.
The answer was mostly "you don't actually need to mass mine every spot of it you find if you don't have a use for it", because ore patches are actually a fairly great "storage" for those resources.
im sure is is using some mods.
Can you screenshot that factory?
Just a sidenote: If you burn fossil fuel in order to create energy its actually resource saving to not burn the coal directly, but use fuel blocks, created from coal liquification(even without productivity modules)
Heavy oil->Light oil->3:2 to fuel block
light Oil-> 1:1 to fuel block
Petroleum: cant have enough of it
I play on a map(actually with normal settings regarding resource generation) with almost no oil patches and coil liquification is extremly useful.
