Coal
Is anyone else finding late game that coal is stock piling up, because it has become useless?

There's a mod called blackmarket, where it lets you sell overflowing production items, and also buy other things.. it works with a credit system but i haven't figured it out yet. Maybe it will help?
in angel mods, coal can be processed to make carbon dioxide, where as crushed coal from the burner ore crusher are smelted to CokeCoal (Obsidian i called it) then results Carbon Dioxide + Coke Coal = Carbon (to power steam engines), looking at the fuel value is 6MJ, expecting more but oh well effective enough for beginner like me, progressing as i play

(try to get coke pellets instead, the amount of fuel energy per coal is higher than carbon)

Back to in vanilla coal though, it's a bit like how stone was for a while (before you could paste it on the floor), it made walls and it was about all you could get from it.
The answer was mostly "you don't actually need to mass mine every spot of it you find if you don't have a use for it", because ore patches are actually a fairly great "storage" for those resources.
I have serios demands for coal, even after going nucular. If you wanna build big, i mean infinite science in 0.15, you need tons of coal. Especially with complete productivity, coal gets a immense shift.

Freek I am producing 2Mil red circuits a min.
at that volume you need 2 million coal a minute. doesn't seem that useless to me, but i certainly havent achieved elite status.
1 coal -> 2 plastic -> 1 red circuit, so 1:1 ratio.
unless you are using a mod changing the recipe, then perhaps you are complaining unjustly.

im sure is is using some mods.
And I'm sure he is just trolling, will get triggered by my assumption and telling us, he is not. :)

I have a quarter of a million coal stored.

Freek I am producing 2Mil red circuits a min.
Gmc i am stuffed to the gills with oil, so liquefaction is useless.
Twelve why use grenades on trees when u can nuke them? Once you do u will be like whats a grendade?
Dusk, my infinity research is up to 64000 research paks per, and i still have so much coal i am just paving over it and not mining it...

So that = useless.

Thanks david i will look into that mod.

Can you screenshot that factory?

my problem is that how do i convert gases, i have converter valves but dunno much how to use it? Show a diagram anyone draft or detailed (actual game diagram) anything plz or post on Factorio front page. I only can convert steam to water that's all, nothing else. Do I craft more converter valves joint to chemical plant or something? I had a look in the Factorio forum bout' converting gases but not much explains it clear enough only bout that mods, I will have another look again for new forums, I'm using Angels Mods that is why I'm asking

I complained about this topic in the past, but now I am satisfied how coal works. Coal liquification was the "solution" because now you have an unlimited coal sink.

Just a sidenote: If you burn fossil fuel in order to create energy its actually resource saving to not burn the coal directly, but use fuel blocks, created from coal liquification(even without productivity modules)

Heavy oil->Light oil->3:2 to fuel block
light Oil-> 1:1 to fuel block
Petroleum: cant have enough of it

I play on a map(actually with normal settings regarding resource generation) with almost no oil patches and coil liquification is extremly useful.

i'm not using nuclear for power i'm still at steam but starting to researching solar and im using coal to make carbon outta of it to power up my steam engines, cause' when I start a new map I always find a spot where patches of coal is near the ocean shoreline just playing conveniency for myself. Make sense or not?

hey gas question, what happened to petroluem gas, is it removed?
8 full blue belts is 19,200 items per min. You need 105 blue belt lanes worth to even hit 2mil a minute. The oil production to even achieve the needed plastic is staggering.
