Get rid of unwanted fluid?
Hey, is there a way to get rid of unwanted fluids? In the past it was possible to "burn" it in steam engines, but since they now consume steam, thats not possible anymore, if I am right?

Thanks a lot.

The only solution i know is tanks and tanks and tanks...

by 'fluid' you mean oil based products right? if you play 0.15 you now have fluid wagons on trains you could use to take it to a 'storage' area to use later, if you research advanced oil you can 'crack' it down to petrolium, you could make heavy oil into lubricant and light oil into solid fuel, or use both heavy and light to make flamer ammo just note that there is no 'useless fluid' in this, it can all be used, you can also put ANYTHING into barrels now with 0.15.x so its up to you really, just don't waste it becauses you will want to use it at some point :)

Tanks in the early game, but later on you can set up pumps and turn excess light and petro into solid fuel. I have over 200K solid fuel now, and I am just storing it until I finish my rocket laucnhing area.

There are some mods, but vanilla lacking on those options to get rid of overproduced stuff. I mean people build chests to fill them with wood just to shoot them in order to remove that wood.

But yeah, make solid fuel and store it and keep it for rocket fuel

I'm pretty sure that if you pick up a tank thats full of liquid, the liquid goes poof. Then again, I never really paid too much attention if this was what really happens, or if the liquid just gets shunted into another connecting tank in the pipeline or not.

Seconding the solid fuel suggestion. Steam Boilers will also work using solid fuel. In fact you get far more steam, and thus power, from a single piece of solid fuel than you do from a piece of coal. Eventually I phase coal out entirely where I can and end up using exclusively solid fuel to burn in my boilers and power my trains/car/tank.

There's a difference between destoying virtually useless wood and oil. I would never destroy oil. I set up my wiring so I always have 10-20K of each oil product, and the extra gets reduced to slid fuel.

Picking up a tank will destroy its contents. I would NEVER do that. I would build more tanks if it came down to this being my only option.

I will also add that if you are wasting oil on the basis that it is infinite then note that the 'yield' (oil per sec) does drop over time so think again before you delete silos..

Yeah, I tend to have like 200k of each oil in store. If not more, since the numbers were multiplied by 10 :D

Even if that were the case you would just have to remove the pipe first...

When you set up trains to fetch oil you may need a setup like this in future..

Let's make a British Petroleum mod.

You can dump unwanted oil into the ocean and set up oil rigs that are extremely prone to oil spillage.

Why can't I just pump the excess outside like all the modern oil companies do?

The wildlife is hostile, anyway.

You can! The Flamethrower turret covers both of those situations nicely ~ gets rid of extra oils and nasty wildlife too. Also forests.
[For best results, a solid triple line of flame turrets behind a sturdy wall is recommended.]

That... Is a most excellent point, actually.
