How rare is uranium on the map?
Because I've found none dispite radars and exploration. I set all the ores to be very low in number but very large and rich (because trains). Is uranium rare compared with the other ores, meaning I set it to be SUPER-DUPER rare? Or was the map generation bugged? This was a newly generated 0.15 map.

Something must have broken in your map generation. The water may have covered all of the uranium.

At this point, I'd reroll the map or cheat some in.

After like 40 min of driving in a tank and killing like a million biters I finally found a huge uranium deposit. Wasn't that far away but it was in an opposite direction from where I began searching. Haven't found any more deposits but this one has like 600k ore in it.

To economize nuclear fuel, you can store the super hot steam from the reactor in tanks, filling them up, shutting down the reactor and only reactivating it when the tanks are close-ish to empty (which covers the warm-up period). With a simple circuit setup, of course.

Cool idea. I've used similar setup in the past to store hot water so I didn't have to use accumulators. I figured it would work for steam too but didn't think about using this to save on nuclear fuel.

That is... very unlucky. I did rail world settings in .15.0, the initial release. This was before they tweaked the pre-setting for railworld to make it also affect uranium. And I had (and used) the one near spawn all the way to infinite research. I only recently tapped a new mine just to keep my centrifuges busy, but after 6 chests of 238 and 2 chests of 235 (enriching) it's all shut down due to full belts.

It's pretty silly just how effective it is for power. I set up a bank of 2x4 reactores, with plans to up that to 2x8 soon. The problem I find myself having is to find space for the huge amount of turbines needed per reactor.

Any resolution? I'm having the same issue. 200+ hours on the map with radars going - no uranium. Is this a glitch on certain seeds? I've encountered this once before and just started over, but would hate to do that with the investment in this map lol.

You're using mods, and this is an old thread!

Since you're using mods, the achievements don't matter on this save: Use a command code to spawn in uranium.

I have never had a world NOT have uranium, but sometimes it is a very small patch a long ways away from spawn. You can try exploring in one single direction only. The further away you get, the larger the spawns should be (mod and map version dependant). That way, when you do find uranium, it should be a larger deposit.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1404255794 this seed no longer works(its generates completly other map)

first map i generated after they just added uranium "ok this is terrible map im going to generate new"

*le me generating new map*
*le twelve seconds later" oh boy this is best map i ever had in 1200 hours of factorio

I shared it twice on forums before but it no longer works:/ map generates a desert and there is coal iron and copper , and 1.2milion patch of stone -_- no uranium

fairly common. about as common as stone, less common that iron coal and copper. The deposits get larger further out thousgh, so Im sittign on a 3M deposit. and Im not even done with blue science yet.

That's because mapgen was changed in 0.16. Any seeds or map exchange strings from earlier versions will no longer produce the same maps.

There is another reason that kind of map is now impossible. From the 0.16.0 changelog:[wiki.factorio.com]
No uranium as a starting resource also no uranium is ever generated near the starting area, you need to go look for it.

The only problem is, as soon as you move slightly away from the starting area and the game begins generating new terrain, there will be ugly discontinuities between old (generated in earlier version and saved) and new (generated in current version) because of the different mapgen.

IMHO, it's better to use map preview when generating maps, or, if really desperate, mods (RSO) or cheats.
