Something must have broken in your map generation. The water may have covered all of the uranium.
At this point, I'd reroll the map or cheat some in.
i can give you my seed if you want *insert innuendo*

That is... very unlucky. I did rail world settings in .15.0, the initial release. This was before they tweaked the pre-setting for railworld to make it also affect uranium. And I had (and used) the one near spawn all the way to infinite research. I only recently tapped a new mine just to keep my centrifuges busy, but after 6 chests of 238 and 2 chests of 235 (enriching) it's all shut down due to full belts.
It's pretty silly just how effective it is for power. I set up a bank of 2x4 reactores, with plans to up that to 2x8 soon. The problem I find myself having is to find space for the huge amount of turbines needed per reactor.

You're using mods, and this is an old thread!
Since you're using mods, the achievements don't matter on this save: Use a command code to spawn in uranium.
I have never had a world NOT have uranium, but sometimes it is a very small patch a long ways away from spawn. You can try exploring in one single direction only. The further away you get, the larger the spawns should be (mod and map version dependant). That way, when you do find uranium, it should be a larger deposit.
first map i generated after they just added uranium "ok this is terrible map im going to generate new"
*le me generating new map*
*le twelve seconds later" oh boy this is best map i ever had in 1200 hours of factorio
I shared it twice on forums before but it no longer works:/ map generates a desert and there is coal iron and copper , and 1.2milion patch of stone -_- no uranium
if somone is really desperate...i can send you first savefile of the map becouse save still works
There is another reason that kind of map is now impossible. From the 0.16.0 changelog:[wiki.factorio.com]
The only problem is, as soon as you move slightly away from the starting area and the game begins generating new terrain, there will be ugly discontinuities between old (generated in earlier version and saved) and new (generated in current version) because of the different mapgen.
IMHO, it's better to use map preview when generating maps, or, if really desperate, mods (RSO) or cheats.
yeah map prewiew thing they added is amazing:)
Yean, using it I was able to generate map with more then 15M uranium around ^_^
