Mod Portal Down?

It seems like the mod portal is down? is it down because of the 0.15 update?

I think it is currently overloaded due to the 0.15 release as some mods already have been updated. In any case it's not a planned downtime.

The programmable speaker is not a mod, it is built into the game in 0.15.

This indicates an overloaded server, if the internal process doesn't finish the request in x seconds it just throws an Application error. It could also indicate an actual application error but I doubt it.

There is no mod that can implement this in 0.14.23 since the base functionality (outputting sound the way the speaker does) is not supported by 0.14.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, but starting with 0.15 mods are able to create custom alerts with their own icon and text that are displayed like the "is under attack" and "is destroyed" warnings we already have. It probably will be awhile before someone will make a mod like this though.

Circuit Alerter[mods.factorio.com] should do exactly that. No idea about compatibility with 0.15 though...

Yeah, I need to agree here. Why is the mod-portal in particular that slow? The website and the forum is not.

It's impossible to login and/or for the most time the portal even didn't load up. Really, is this hosted on a C64 at home with a 56k modem? :D

Maybe it's time to change the provider for this. I also did realize this some months ago, that the portal in general is very slow, even not on peak hours or when patches comes out.
