Proper ratio of pump > boiler > steam engine?
With the changes has the ratio of 1 pump, 14 boilers, and 10 steam engines changed?

EDIT: The new ratio is 1 pump, 20 boilers, 40 steam engines.

Yes, it has changed.
Blaank Apr 24, 2017 @ 12:47pm
What is the new ratio?
Tarradax Apr 24, 2017 @ 12:50pm
1 Pump : 20 Boilers : 40 Engines.

1 pump = 1200 fluid/s, engines consume 30/s. We already know that the boiler:engine ratio is 1:2 because the devs said so.

Do steam engines still consume 30/s or was it changed?

Does steam behave in the exact same way as fluids?

Can heat be transported via steam at full pipe capacity?

Yes, Yes, Yes.

The game also gives you tooltips with all the values, so you can actually do the math yourself. All the values are right there.

Curious. 40 engines on a single pump. That means even a puddle can supply your main factory now well into late game :D

Haven't noticed that yet. Thanks.

is it me, or do the boilers use a mad amount of fuel?

Steam Engine blueprint minus the pump. Yellow belt and yellow inserters, Close to minimum poles. Edit: I did a dumb and forgot the pipes.

Yeah, The energy consumption is much higher now.

EDIT: Actually, it was using an insane amount of coal when I first setup, but it went back down after more boilers were fueled.

I am sure they said it was 1 boiler per steam engine just a day or so ago....
Well anyway, I set up 20 boilers to 20 engines, and at max load, a boiler burns through a coal in, like 3 seconds. It is insane how fast it goes through it. I don't think that is right.

Steam engines output 2x as much power and take in 2x as much steam now. So it may be correct. Also the ratio of boilers to steam engines went from 7:5 to 7:14. Each boiler is eating coal way faster.
ultramanj Apr 24, 2017 @ 7:16pm
Boilers to steam engines is now 1 to 2.
