Possible to pause or cancel research? (ie. not switch to an alternate tech)
Tried searching the forums as I know people have asked this before, to clarify I do not want to switch to another tech, I just want to pause or cancel the current research queue, I'm very late game doing space science packs.

Sometimes I want to test certain aspects of the game, or need to redirect resources to another area of my base that is being used up by the current research queue. Is there a button to do this somewhere or do you just have to stop feeding your labs?

There is at least one mod (that I know of) that allows you to pause/switch reasearch and keep your current amount of reasearch, might be a pause option.

I believe the only solution is to stop feeding your labs, or to remove power to them. You could hook up the power lines to a power switch to make the powering on/off convienient, or even toggleable with a signal from the circuit network.

That's pretty much what I figured, thanks for the replies.

oh and you don't need a mod anymore to retain research if/when you switch to a different tech, that's in the current beta. Just thought I'd let you know.

Connect the labs to power through a switch. Shut switch off.

Oh no, thank you, I knew, I just thought maybe the mod I was talking about would have a pause option for research lol.

This seems the best idea so far.

aware of that method already, ie. stop feeding labs. but thanks anyway. Feeding via packs and/or power.

I did not want to use a power switch as my distribution it too interconnected. For example, I wanted to pause the labs, but continue allowing the inserters to feed packs onto the belts.

Instead I used a single Constant Combinator, setting Green = 1. Then I wired all of the inserters feeding the labs in series.

Additionally, I added two lights (one red, one green) to clearly indicate whether the labs were toggled OFF or ON.

you could switch to a research that you are not producing the potions for yet(i.e if you are producing green and red, but not blue, you can choose a research project that needs blue potions)
