Opening books?
Hello all,

I am new to Fritz and am wondering where I might find the opening books. Do I have to install them seperately, for example? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Grant.

Hy. When you install the game, it automatically create a folder under my documents. The folder is named Chessbase, and in there you can find the Player base, the data base is in the folder Bases, and the oipening book is located in the folder Books.

Hello,

Many thanks! However, both folders you refer to are empty.

Grant.

P.S. The game activatred ok and I am able to update fine, so I must have the full game installed, I assume. I have several Chess engines available, though. Could you tell me what the files are, if you feel there is something amiss with my installation?

There is a problem with the Steam installer which is currently being fixed. You have to install everything manually.
Find the folder called "Prereqs" in the Fritz 15 install location and there are 5 installers. Install all the 5 exe's and you should be fine.

Edit - I guess you refunded as it you no longer have it.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for more help! In the Prereqs folder you mention, I have three files; DX, Engines and Fonts.

Also, no, I haven't refunded. But, to be honest, I did not purchase the program from Steam. I was having difficulty in finding any helpful sources, so i posted here.

Grant.

P.S. If you wouldn't mind, chris, you name the files I should have?

Hi Grant

Was yours an official purchase? I don't think a torrent would include the full exe's and I wouldn't trust it.
Anyway the Steam version has the following exe's -

ChessBaseFontSetup
DatabaseSetup
Fritz15BookSetup
Setup_Fritz_15
TestsetsSetup

The standalone Chessbase version also has the Book.

Hi Chris,

No, it wasn't a torrent. I don't believe in that way of avoiding paying for work people have spent a long time on. But for some reason these files are not present.

Once again, thank you for your time.

GRant.

Hi Grant

I also have the standalone version. The location of the installed book is -
C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChessBase\InstallUserDocs\GUI15

What is in your folder? If it is empty I can only assume there is no book in your version for some reason, but there should be as it is the "built in" book.
