[v0.9.2] - The Cult of Canaan
You'll know you're on the most up to date build if the version number below matches the one at the bottom of your screen while in the main menu and in-game. If your game hasn't automatically queued an update, verify your game files! If you host a dedicated server, update your server!

v0.9.2.12091 Change Notes

Performance:
  • Major optimizations across several areas of the game, focusing primarily on user-reported areas. We have also made other more general shadow optimizations across the entire Facility.
Facility Changes:
  • A small change has occurred in the Security Sector. It is unclear if this has something to do with Anteverse XXXIX or not, but there seems to be a few clues about where to go next – for someone smart enough to figure it out.
  • Some lab areas in Wildlife Pens have undergone some changes. A Manse hologram has relocated.
  • Vehicles should more easily move over a down-ramp near the start of MFWest after the door to it is opened.
General Gameplay Changes:
  • Dreams may now contain relaxing music, cozy trees, and distant mountains.
  • Various localization updated.
  • Compacted and downscaled some features of tooltips. We are aware this will make some text smaller, but we’re out of room and out of ideas. Just kidding, we have more plans for this in the future. Bear with us!
  • Item Tooltips can be a bit wider now to better fit more information.
  • Item flavor text has been removed from the crafting screen UI. You can now think of this as a “reward” for making the item. Plus, we need that space for more important information.
  • At least one new damage type has been added to the arsenal.
  • Ingestion warning to oneself is now canceled when offering items to others.
  • Warren and the Blacksmith now both set their proper trade flags even if you miss talking to them during certain quest progression.
  • Electric damage now gives less Fortitude XP.
Item Changes:
  • Reduced some drop rates in Voussoir, particularly to do with Mountaineering gear.
  • Increased all crossbow bolt sizes for easier pickup when on the ground, or embedded in your foes. Or friends, for that matter.
  • New Craftable Crossbow Weapon added.
  • Added two new types of Crossbow Bolts, “Shock Bolts” and… Wait, seriously?
  • New Heavy Weapon added.
  • New Spear-type Weapon added.
  • Several new hats are acquirable from the fine folks of Canaan.
  • Items on Item Stands should no longer get their materials confused or switched.
  • To help declutter item tooltips, lower tier Set Bonuses no longer show if a higher tier set bonus is active.
  • New Security-Tier Armor Set: Hex Armor.
  • New Craftable Helmet: Jack O’ Lantern Mask
  • New Craftable Wooden Bucket added.
  • New Craftable Item: Bleach.
  • Dropped gear (from enemies in particular) can now despawn after a time. This should declutter a lot of spaces.
  • There are at least two new collectible figurines and/or bobbleheads.
  • Makeshift Crossbow now has better salvage items.
  • Reduced Lantern (deployed) brightness very slightly.
  • Added travel sounds to all bolt projectiles.
  • Changed armor calculation to have diminishing returns after 20 armor (per limb, not total) and fixed a bug that was making it even more aggressive, allowing outrageous values for damage reduction. Armor that used to block 98% or greater now blocks around 60% to 70% of damage.
  • Increased damage per hit on Magbow.
  • Improved most overworld gun durability rates and values.
  • Halved the chance for Security Pistol (and flashlight version) to take durability damage when firing.
  • Increased SMG durability.
  • Decreased chance for SMG to take durability damage when firing.
  • Increased Military Shotgun durability.
  • Decreased chance for Military Shotgun to take durability damage when firing.
  • Decreased chance for Talagi Magnum to take durability damage when firing.
  • Decreased chance for Antique Shotgun to take durability damage when firing.
  • Increased Patois Rifle durability.
  • Added a New Trinket.
  • Added grass impact sounds for weapon hits.
  • The Red Hydrohat is now available from wherever people are finding Hydrohats.
Deployable Changes:
  • New Deployable: Once you have progressed enough in your journey, you will be able to build a new containment chamber for IS-0091. We don’t feel there is much more we can tell you to prepare you for this moment. Good luck.
  • Oh, and you can toggle the glass on the containment chamber if the sight is just too unbearable or whatever, Abe.
  • New Deployable: Small Sign.
  • New Deployables: Wooden Mannequins.
  • New Deployable: Jack O’ Lanterns, both carveable (with a shiv or knife) and paintable to affect light color.
  • New Deployable: Cauldron - fill it with the right liquid and paint it!
  • New Deployable: Polished Skull.
  • Makeshift Stoves can now properly be damaged by hostile entities.
  • Distribution Pad no longer has item restrictions now that slots can be favorited. The Distribution Pad will still not pull items from Equipment Slots or Hotbar Slots, as a courtesy to your tools.
  • Updated the deployable hologram for Aquariums, making them slightly easier to place in tight spots.
  • Plant ropes are no longer considered metal when used in crafting recipes.
  • Wall torches can no longer be stood on.
  • Armor can now be quick-swapped by hold-interacting with any Armor Stand. There is also a toggle option in the Armor Stand to swap or ignore empty slots.
  • Added at least 2 new paintings, findable in not telling you.
  • Added ambient water loop to aquariums.
  • Makeshift Toilet has had its recipe changed to better fit its requirements, and now supports AnyBucket item type when crafting.
  • New Antelight color available, but that’s all we can say about that.
Accessibility Changes:
  • Various under-the-hood improvements to gamepads in preparation for more support and settings in this area.
Portal World Changes:
  • New (Canaan-related) Achievement added. Note: This achievement can be obtained before fully completing the Portal World and is not an indicator of completion. (Returning home is, as usual!)
  • Various corpses in Rise have had improvements, changes, or other fixes. No word on the authenticity of the strange visitor.
Fishing Changes:
  • There is a new type of fish that can be caught in Canaan. We won’t tell you what, we won’t tell you where, and we certainly won’t tell you how.
  • Adjusted various chances for certain rare fish, and most rare fish in general. We found some cases where rares were being caught more frequently than intended, while others were fine or even too rare. We’ve balanced this out a bit better.
  • Fishing Rods and Fishing Bait now show their item category in their item tooltips.
  • New Tier 2 Fishing Rod added with increased reeling speed and a bit more than that.
  • Makeshift Fishing Rod reel speed remains the same as before, but the reeling sound has changed slightly to better differentiate reeling speeds of new and upcoming rods.
  • Fish Traps are now unlocked early in Fishing progression, but they take time to catch fish, when baited properly.
  • Note: At this time, fish caught in traps do not count towards the Fishing Database in your journal.
  • Fishing Hotspots now expire after a few uses.
  • Some fish now indicate their presence with a different splashing visual effect.
Food & Farming Changes:
  • Many new cooking recipes have been added to Cooking, particularly at the oven-tier (which is Level 10.)
  • Several new food recipes revolving around the new fish type that can be caught in Canaan have been added.
  • When looking at stoves (or ovens), you can now hold the interact key to bring up a radial wheel with options of items to place on the stove. Let us know what you think of this.
  • Pumpkins (we think) and new foods to make with those (probable) pumpkins.
  • Apple Pies, and probably apples, too.
  • Bread can now be burnt in the oven.
  • Gumdrop Cookies now decay slightly slower.
  • New Soup: Peccary Noodle Soup.
  • The Simple Pest Pie is now properly tagged as a food item and should properly show up at the Chef’s Counter.
  • Greyeb now close back up when they are in their regrowth phase.
  • Food in inventory no longer has added decay upon respawning from death.
Customization Changes:
  • There are now three new spooky ties; Jack O’ Lantern, Skeleton, and IS-0091.
  • Updated Hair Style: Practical Ponytail
  • New Hair Style: Rugged Ponytail
  • New Hair Style & Mustache: Wild Science
  • New Hair Style: Combed
  • New Hair Style: Two Buns
  • New Hair Style: Vogue
  • The TransRecon ID card can now be retrieved, but it’s a grisly affair.
Journal and Compendium Changes:
  • The Compendium has new entries.
  • Fixed various typos and updated some information in the Compendium.
  • Changed resistances to show Yellow as weak, and Red as immune, in the Compendium.
  • Added an additional location for unlocking Sniper Compendium entry.
  • Added journal map icons for locations that didn’t have them.
Entity Changes:
  • Office-tier Security Bots can now be killed by other entities.
  • Improved logic around footsteps for certain enemy types.
  • Enemy combat dialog no longer randomly ducks other audio like music and sound effects - narrative dialog still does this, however.
  • Sows now drop leather scrap, from time to time.
Various Bug Fixes:
We'd like to remind everyone to use the in-game feedback forms. We have received over 10,000 player reports and to that we say, THANK YOU. Many of the bugs fixed in this update were submitted by scientists like you.
  • Fixed a major issue with save backups not being found/detectable properly by the auto-recovery system.
  • Fixed a case where controls could lock up when using the Ammo Radial Wheel.
  • Fixed various bugs where the Cascade Set Bonus (Threat and Motion Sensor) were not working as described on their item tooltip.
  • Fixed a bug where your pet Electro-Pest may spontaneously turn into a Pest.
  • Fixed a bug where tooltips sometimes have a double divider in them.
  • Fixed a bug where Acid Bolts would automatically unlock when unlocking the Makeshift Crossbow recipe. This was not intended, a-whoospie-doopsie, if you will.
  • Fixed bobbleheads doing a little pop when resetting their head position at the end of their bobbling behaviors.
  • Fixed a bug where items in backpacks were acting as though they were being cooled by a cold container.
  • Fixed a bug where entities that are immune to certain debuffs were still able to receive those debuffs from molotovs and other similar area effects.
  • Fixed typo in at least one name of at least one rare fish.
  • Fixed two issues with hanging paintings in Anteverse 23.
  • Sinks in Anteverse 23 should now all function as intended instead of having various strange issues.
  • Fixed the placement of some items in Train that were floating.
  • Fixed some improperly linked doors in Adjustment Wing.
  • Fixed incorrect location name for The Mycofields.
  • The X-Ray Tower can no longer be plugged in while under construction.
  • Fixed a bug where radial wheels could be opened or closed simultaneously with incorrect keybindings.
  • Fixed upgraded Platform Carts getting recalled with missing inventory.
  • Fixed Chef’s Counter Item Transporter upgrade failing to correctly connect with nearby containers under some conditions.
  • Fixed missing water visuals in water tanks found in the Mines.
  • Fixed some padding on the left side of the Buffs column on HUD, back to its original position before the previous changes to it.
