Passive water collection recipe and device?
Basically, a dehumidifier that collects "tainted water" from the air and then you can filter it and boil it to make clean water. Maybe eventually an upgrade to it that improves the storage tank and adds in a built in filter? Not sure what the recipe could be...probably something like:
Cloth Scrap, Bucket, Tech Scraps, Power Brick.
Then the upgrade would require
Refined Carbon, Water Collector(from before). Computation Block. Hydrochloric Acid(basically same as Water Filter but smaller).

Of course the device would be powered and would stop working if no energy is supplied. I'd say it would take an in-game day to produce a liter(1000ml) of water?

there is already passive water collection in-game.
-- just place an bucket, or pot, in an sink, and wait.

No way, really?! I would have never thought of that offhand, the sinks in the bathrooms for one don't look big enough to even stick a bucket in. I gotta try that and see if it works, shame there's no way to speed up time in game.

Note: I have never gotten that to work. Either it is bugged, or the timing on when those sinks fill is so long that I'd rather not dedicate a bucket to a given sink.

And yes, the bucket does look way too big for many sinks, but it can still be placed.

i've been testing it with the sink refill rate set to the max, and it still takes an few days before the buckets get filled fully.

-- adjusting that to default refill speed, and it'd be around an week or 2 in-game before 1 bucket is filled.

so yes, at default speed, it will be very, VERY, slow.
-- but still possible.

The buckets are 2000ml big, the sinks in general are only 250ml worth of water so of course they're going to take a couple of days to completely fill. This is why I suggested the "build a passive water collector device" thing. Plus, sinks aren't always conveniently placed.

Now on the other hand, Water Coolers *will respawn* even on default settings. You can pick'em up, take them to your base and they'll be back to where you grabbed them in a day or so?
