Heavy Weaponry is currently BAD (and it shouldn't be)
Me (they/them) and my buddy EZ_Bot (he/him) have been playing this game a lot together. We currently have over a day's worth of playtime and the game hasn't been released for that long. We also enjoyed the demo a lot too before the fully release :) So thanks for the awesome game so far!

After getting a heavy weapon really early in the game (I think it was a peccary club or something) my friend finally got to the strength level to be proficient with heavy weapons around the beginning of the wildlife lab area ... and it was a complete letdown. I had been using the charged spear and ranged attacks and he was using mainly the charged hammer plus gun occassionally. I took the fragile trait, so he was the main tank of the two of us and the big dps guy. So I think we were both a bit disappointed that it didn't live up to the expectations of just crushing enemies with heavy strikes. It was especially ineffective if you consider the speed increase with the sow peccarries so it is really hard to play around the delay.

We discussed it and he said that the timing was the main thing ruining it. In the end my friend just preferred to use the old weapon because at least then he could chose when to do the heavy attack vs normal attack. As we were discussing the issue, we realized a method of hold and release on your own timing (so essentially being able to hold an attack for longer than required so you pick when the swing actually lands). This would allow for more dodging and releasing the weapon at opportune moments, and I think would make for more engaging gameplay. Cuz currently it just releases the attack after a set timer and it's a bit annoying to determine when that will happen.
