Have a creepy underwater ocean and island portal world with shark like creatures making the harpoon a very viable weapon there. Have a new huge fish tank craft-able and a new fish variant to catch, the shark like creatures. Also have a new fishing rod, that is difficult to make made out of new materials, that makes the bouts with fish 2 times instead of the regular 3. Also have a new wearable item that works like a headlamp a wearable floodlight that allows you to see in the dark depths of water with a beaming light far and wide. As well have a new diving suit that lets you have more air underwater and have a diver propulsion vehicle to allow faster movement in water and it needs to be charged. Also on the island have new enemy variants and have a new pet like some kind of giant mosquito.

considering how many thassalopobe threads we've had( i have lost count, but it's in the hundreds) i doubt the dev's want the headache of a thousand more threads

That's a shame lol one thing I really love about this game is how they ramp up the spookiness each update I really like that serious scary progression. Makes it feel actually terrifying and the stakes are high.

As a thalassophobe, I think this is a great suggestion. A thousand times scarier than Leyak, hands down. I'd hate every single second I was in that water, just like my first run through Subnautica. They did a Core Keeper crossover thing, how about an area inspired by SOMA?
