Yeah, I mean I'm doing that for now, but it's a bit tedious trying to keep defenses maintained, as the security bot will just tear through them every night if I don't. I'm talking about the heavy metal blast door that goes down the right side if you're coming from the shutter side. Needs a power supply to open and then there's a ramp that leads down to the elevator and another blast door on the left that opens the shortcut to Manufacturing where the Forklift guy and the security bot are.
That said, the video game logic for it is stretched thinner than usual, and can develop a weird meta strategy where you don't unlock certain doors just to make things easier on yourself later.
I've had this happen not with those big doors, but with a few locked office doors. My play next through of the area had me just not unlocking some doors, because I knew what would happen if I did.
I've thought about basing in a portal world, but I just don't know which one would be worth basing in. I was going to base in the ice area, but even inside, it's too damn cold to be viable.
I do that myself, and I agree that the bot has its uses. But I'm trying to expand my base outward. So for example, I've set up barricades and 'claimed' the area down the hallway from the security office near where that sparking wire by the wrecked forklift is at. And I've expanded out the backdoor of the security office all the way down to the meeting room near the main lobby. So obviously the bot being in that area is a bit a a troublesome factor.
