While Fog itself will become an annoyance later in the game, they aren't really lethal, same goes for Spores, spores however can provide resources directly, the Mushrooms.
Radiation Leak?
It just screws you over that forces you to wear a Rad-Suit, which have another negative but rather small side-effects when wearing them xd.
Maybe the Radiation Leak could like, have a chance to fish Radiation Fish in any other Water Source? As long they have a use anyway.
Though yes, I hope someday in the future they are fully fleshed out.
As for what other kind of neat up side there could be, I'm kind of at a loss (or was). I can't see it somehow boosting whatever reactor we find, since that doesn't make much sense; makes as much sense as living with car exhaust fumes to help the engine perform better.
...
That does give me a bit of an idea. It might be a bit OP, but maybe it could reduce the enemy counts, and what enemies are there are radiation resistant. Like say the Radiation pushes out the normal Order Soldiers, and a few in Military Hazmat suits keep watch. More Anteverse II critters show up, since they aren't hunted as much and are already naturally radioactive and shouldn't mind. The shift in enemy types might be preferable when doing a push somewhere. It trades one hazard for another, but for a hazard that might be easier to handle for awhile.
And while at the Reactor Sector, I could easily see 'summoning' a Radiation Leak event, since... well, you're at the source!
(Watch, I totally spoiled what the devs had in mind.
