Eating Brains Should Postpone Death from the "A Strange Virus" effect
Eating brains should postpone death from the "A Strange Virus" effect. It would be interesting to lean into the affect, make it so that the excessive vomit stops after eating one, but would return if eating or drinking anything other than brains. Eating a brain would greatly fill those meters, forcing players to hunt down order members or to prepare a bunch of brains before hand. Having the effect for too long could slow down your movement? Its not supposed to be a good status to have, but it could be fun to play with it for a bit.

I don't really have any strong opinions on this suggestion, but it did remind me of the planned hardcore mode. Given that the virus is a guaranteed death when contracted, it probably would be worth finding some way to manage or cure it for whatever unfortunate S.O.B. on hardcore mode accidentally gets infected.

It also has the inverse effect outside of hardcore, right now.

I got the ick once, after a zombie performed the much-beloved maneuver of "spawn behind you and immediately force a grapple". The onset of the disease was so delayed, and the timer so generous, that it had absolutely no effect on my time playing. All I did was put all my stuff in a box by my bed, leap into a pit, and then grab everything back up.

In current circumstances, it's nothing more than an inventory-juggling nuisance. In a possible future hardcore mode, it's a non-negotiable run-ender that only lets you know you've lost a long time after it's happened.

Precisely. Pretty much how I'm playing currently with the "destroy everything on death" option to further enforce a permadeath experience considering the game is rather easy as is.

As low a threat as zombies are, given my current parameters it still causes me to be super schizo knowing that being caught off guard once is going to get me bit and then even though I'm not dead then and there I may as well be anyway!

Postponing would be a neat gimmick I suppose but it's mostly unnecessary given the already liberal timeframe as well as the course of action regarding other scenarios.

In the way of a cure, perhaps an IS could be utilized there, a one and done though or an absurdly expensive transference of resources in order to facilitate a second chance, the former possibly lumping on an extended or even permanent effect or the latter merely of a very significant cost both being highly undesirable outcomes but better than death in the event that the player still wishes to continue.
