Maestro Set obtaining
During my playthrough, I realized there is an armor set that you can skip without realizing it. The offender is of course Maestro Set, due to its lack of exposition. As probably everyone knows, we get the Idea of creating a new item by obtaining all the components that build it. Usually, this works fine unless an item requires something with a low drop rate (In this instance it is the Organ).

On average, you need to kill 10 symphonists to learn that an armor set can be built from their loot. This wouldn't be the problem itself, but if we take into account that:
  • Symphonists are quite durable and powerful enemies(especially at the stage we can encounter them)
  • We don't have guaranteed encounters with them(we can't control the occurrence of the fog in the facility and Flathills can generate without any guaranteed encounter)
An alternative way to obtain the organ is to combine partial organs obtained from fishing. This does a much better job of exposing the player to the possibility of creating the Maestro Set. On average, you need to catch 4 Cordfishes to realize there is something like a "Partial Organ" that can be combined into an "Organ".

My suggestion to help with the visibility of the set as a viable option would be:
  • Ensuring at least one guaranteed encounter with the Symphonist at further visits at Flathill
  • Add the drop of the "Partial Organ" (1-2) at quite high chance(something between 25% to 50%)
  • Decrease the drop of the "Organ" to 5% (or even keep it, the point is to make it more of a "nice bonus/rare drop", rather than actually a farmable resource)
  • Change the crafting recipe of both Maestro Vambraces and Graves to require the "Partial Organs" (2-3 per piece).
  • Reduce the amount of "Partial Organs" needed to craft an "Organ" from 5 to 4

They do need to change it in some way, its a very rare loot for no reasson really.
You know....I had a thought....

That loony guy you talk to in the book (or film store, wasn't paying attention) must be one badass mutha if he managed to get that armor set.

Wouldn't mind trading trophy heads with him to get what I need. Dude is crazy, but he's got some skills if he's geared up like that.
Doing my happy dance....got my key....gonna get me my fog charm

.......

Then grind fishing for the next several hours to get the rest of the organs.

I think they made getting this armor a tad too hard.

edit - note to self, when going fishing, take pole.

It isn't that hard, just unnecessarily grindy. There isn't any particular challenge tied to it (assuming we decided to obtain the organs and porcelain via fishing); it just takes a lot of time to either fish most of the components or reset the world to hope that an encounter occurs.

Unless we count falling asleep during the fishing, then I must admit it has beaten me. I really wouldn't mind if there was a mini-boss on Flathills that has guaranteed drops or at least much higher drop rates compared to the Symphonists.

It's not a mandatory armor to get though.
He never said it was mandatory. It's just unreasonably hard to acquire. By the time you reset Flathill enough times to reliably complete the set, you've moved on to other pieces of gear. And we can't even say, "oh it's to reward you for staying at the Flathill stage."

Symphonists are tanky at almost any stage of the game, you're encouraged to make Scarecrows that despawn them so they drop nothing, and you have to wait on Flathill to reset enough times. Meaning you're naturally tending to the rest of the facility, and will likely forget that the Maestro set exists.

Even in a team support setting... cool, you're reducing Stamina drain for anyone who wears the Fog Lantern and stays near you. Except this isn't one of those games where you can hear players' footsteps and track their healthbars through walls. Team cohesion is remarkably lacking in Abiotic Factor. Even if your friends try really hard, it's still a dickens of a time trying to get anything done on halved Stamina costs.

While still way too tedious, you can just fish for all the organs you need after you get your first head and maybe key from the symphonists, so no need to reset Flathill a ton of times.
