Agriculture ~ Leaky Hose + Barrel water supply
If I had to grow anything in the game, I'd take one of the 300 hose parts I've got lying around, hook it up to a barrel, and just make a tiny little puncture in the hose so that it slowly drips through that small hole.

Could even use a 4 or more of the hoses to have a single barrel cover a whole farm plot.

I need this for single player... otherwise farming just isn't worth it.

Fill once a week and FORGET.

Technically, the plots do have a watering tank that does just that, drip feeding the plants. The 'problem ' is that it doesn't last long enough and you have to actually tend to your plants; at least at first.

The first major update is going to have some sort of fluid teleportation, so it isn't too big of stretch to also have an automated watering system.

Also idk how you think it currently isn't worth it. I easily was able to maintain plants (especially after the devs buffed how long they could live w/o water) on the regular at my base. I would eat up, water plants (if new and growing), head out in the morning, explore, loot, head back in the evening, drop off loot, check plants, fight any attack or feed 'The Coworker' and prepare for the next day.

At present, it appears that you’re devoting a significant amount of time away from the base and garden Plot. My suggestion would be to opt for a Medium Garden Plot and limit yourself to planting just one or two plants. It it seems that once plants reach full growth, they no longer require watering. The medium plot provides sufficient water to nurture at least two plants until they mature, eliminating any risk of them perishing.

Ooo, sounds neat!

I have the same problem, the early planters run out of water if I go on a salvaging trip to Flathill, and so often the large ones almost out when I get back. I'd love the same kind of upgrade system the workbench has to be available on several other buildings so we could upgrade the garden plots with water barrels and improved sunlamps and such!
+1 to op's suggestion but we're still at medium plots and there's room for the bigger plots (if any are coming) to have more features like plumbing and a reservoir.

The wiki does suggest the next update is likely to have a bigger plot. It's at least being worked on.
