random nitpick and complaint list
hi this is NotNotLoopers from the discord and here is my list of random nitpicks and issues in no particular order
to note I play primarily single-player, some of my nitpicks are solved by playing Co-op

- when you are grabbing things from chest, you cannot Shift-Click items from chest if that item is in your hot bar, nor can you take-all said item from chest. since items prioritize your hot bar, if you Shift-click items with a hot bar slot open you will fail after the first item.

- when arrows/bolts embed in enemies, they can be retrieved, however if the enemy falls onto the side that the bolt is embedded in so its inside a wall, you cant. you also will not get bolts back if you butcher the corpse so some enemies that explode/disintegrate on death will just take your bolts as a ♥♥♥♥ you.

- some items weigh WAY TOO MUCH, some late game armors randomly weigh 20-25, which makes looting them a nightmare, especially since they are parts of sets so you want all 3-4 pieces. (for context, a bed weighs 20 in this game)

- almost nothing de-spawns in this game, so some enemies that commonly drop armor pieces or backpacks will end up making gigantic piles of random helmets and packs that litter the areas they spawn in, which are take up so much space and weight you have to go specifically on a cleaning run just to deal with them. also, if you ever have a excess of something such as metal scrap, your only way to get rid of them is via throwing them off the void, which only reliably works off of trams (throwing them off cliffs normally has a tendency to make them teleport on-top of the cliff and float until you grab them. also items in portal worlds wont de-spawn either.)

- coworker wont leave me alone for 10 seconds at night please make him ♥♥♥♥ off

- meat spoils rather quickly so trying to stockpile it for cooking/eating needs a annoying amount of maintenance

- cooking takes a stupid amount of work to get access to anything more complex than soups and salad wraps, and once you do reach the oven its kinda pointless outside of flexing and feeding all the friends i totally have.

- trying to place furniture alongside walls can be incredibly frustrating as there is no way to have it lock to any sort of grid or aligned to anything and you have to place and pick it up to check if its properly aligned. this is most noteworthy with storage crates, where it is incredibly annoying to place them aligned on-top of each-other, and picking up a crate below any other just deletes the crates above them (thankfully not the contents at-least.)

- Order Snipers fire way too fast for how much damage they deal, and love to inflict heavy bleeding from across the map. this is not helped by the fact they both have a infinite spotting distance and near instantaneous spotting time. also some Order Snipers are placed in places where they either cover every path forwards and force you to get hit by them trying to get past (don't try to counter-snipe them you WILL loose) or they cover EACH-OTHER so you cant kill either without getting beaned by the other (portal/hydro spoilers ahead) the dual Order Snipers watching over the captain in Rise and the tower snipers in Hydro-plant are the worst to deal with, the hydro ones especially due to the fact you have no way to avoid getting their line of site to do anything in hydro and even try to take potshots at you in the tram.

- Enemy drops fly out of their corpses, which can cause some loot items to fly off of a cliff, into corners forcing you to search for way too long, or just not flying out at all and hiding inside of corpses. although this has thankfully not happened to me, if i saw a key i was hunting for hours after fly off a cliff i would immediately uninstall this game.

- some materials (mainly early-game) are FAR more common and numerous than their applications are, consistently and commonly appearing even to the end of the game despite running out of uses within the first hour of play (for example, Books, magazines, rubber bands, pens, and wood)

- on a similar note to previous, some materials can be found in bulk, but have 1-2 uses (potentially even zero!) in crafting, alongside some very random equipment that serves almost no purpose, although i do like having some random equipment around to lend more authenticity and immersion to a location. (main examples are mid-game spoilers but
Anvils, Cement bags, Axle grease, liquid crystal, and leather. )

- the sound the charging station makes when its done charging is so annoying and piercing that i have begun to hear it randomly IRL send help.

spoilers for chest contents
- everything in the cacophonous chests is more or less useless. very sad for how rare the keys are to get.

- the food prep table has no item teleport, which is annoying when you want to keep food in the fridge as much as possible.

- some recipes can be learnt from terminals, however most of these recipes can be learnt later on if you missed the terminal for them. MOST. there are few VERY SPECIFIC recipes that NEED you to find their terminal to create, which sometimes ends up with you having beaten the whole game and having no idea where to find this one terminal. (it took a friend telling me while grinding stuff in endgame for the update where the hell to find peccary sausage.)

- powered workbenches stop spawns in a area around them, but there's no way to really tell how large that radius is, and you wont be able to know until you place it and wait a day or two for a enemy to potentially re-spawn. (on a similar note i wish the item teleporter and distribution pads also got a radius marker)

- the cables from power plugs can be incredibly ugly when they go across some spaces, which is very annoying when you need to get power across a room or up/down a wall.

- some map objects can be broken, but some cannot, which can be very annoying when you are basing somewhere and want to keep your build compact for item teleporter purposes (kitchen cabinets, that one corpse in the kitchen, and cubicle dividers come to mind.)

- some deployable's idle and opening/closing sounds can be very strange or off. (i keep thinking there's someone there every time i close my fancy order chest)

- some item animations/design can be rather strange/bad looking OBSCENELY MINOR hydro-plant spoilers ( the combat knife looks more like a shiv, and my dude holds it in a way that makes it look like a ice pick , the rat stick gets held like your trying to go for a home run with it, and PLEASE MAKE THE BATON USE PROPER TONFA TECHNIQUE IT LOOKS SO COOL BUT NO GAME EVER DOES IT)

That's more or less it, despite how long this list looks i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love this game, these nitpicks are minor (except the Order Sniper one please nerf them)

other than the security guards who basically only exist to shoot guns and die a painful death
