option to turn vomit sounds off 🙄
the female sounds are cartoony enough but the male sounds seem more realistic and it genuinely messes with my phobia. being in the mushroom place and having everyone constantly vomiting is really jarring for me

You gotta put on the thermal suit that the blacksmith sells to not retch in the shroom dimension.

oh, i didn't know that's what that was. but yeah, i'd still like an option to turn the sounds off though.

I'd use these instructions to report it as a misophonia accessibility issue.

It's not really misophonia though, it's emetophobia. It would be more along the lines of a game having an arachnophobia setting.
I don't mind the eating sounds, and the other things that the misophonia setting would turn off. it's purely just the vomit sounds.

I can't recall where I heard this from, but in a movie an actress had to act out vomiting and it was so convincing that the directer told her to do it again, but to tone it down because it made others sick.

So, I would suggest that for this case that the devs just re-record that sound to be less triggering.

Human instinctively react to vomiting, because if one person in a tribe ate something bad and coughed up their meal, and others did as well, odds are it was likely for the better since they all likely ate the same bad thing.

It isn't a misophonia thing, it is more basic and universal than that.

While technically true, in my case it's not even related to that. It's purely just a phobia.

I'm not familiar with the specific phobia terminologies, I just figured misophonia was a mild catch-all for bodily sounds. Regardless, I'd still file it as an accessibility concern.

A "TTV" lacking empathy? What a shocker.

Time to stop being a ♥♥♥♥!
seriously, if you had any idea how hard phobia can make your life, you wouldn't be here saying that. I don't need you telling me to get over it when I've spent the last 15 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years trying to do so. Just because you haven't got any struggles in life, it doesn't mean you have to be a narrow-minded prick about it.

I bet he cures people of depression by telling them to 'just cheer up' as well.
Must be nice to be so gifted and talented.

Ouch, that's... awkward. With that kind of thing being off putting to others in general, I can't really imagine exposure therapy helping much. Now that I think about it, exposure
therapy (used to treat phobias) for that sounds pretty miserable even to someone that doesn't have that issue.

That is one of the weirder ones I've ran into, but if phobias were ever reasonable then they wouldn't be 'irrational fears' now would they?

oh believe me, i've tried exposure therapy with an actual therapist multiple times xD
there's only so much you can do without actually making someone vomit, which isn't ethical
